The arch of the Roseanne show was so amazing to watch. I loved this show and it was clearly one of the funniest shows on the air....that is, until the final season.
During that summer Roseanne had pissed off the entire staff for the last time and all of the writing LEFT one of the top shows to have on their resume. The last season was torture to watch. It went from being one of the best to the dead worst.
On top of that, the final episode where they suddenly switched which guys her daughters were dating and said it was all just a novel that Roseanne was writing absolutely put the final nail in that dead show's coffin.
Point being, don't take talented writers for granted!

Season nine was the way it was because Roseanne wanted it that way, not because she lost all her writers and couldn't find any good new ones. Roseanne fired writers every season, it didn't affect the quality.

I agree i wasn't a fan off the last season. Winning the lottery defeated the whole purpose of the show. I always liked the show because it was about a middle class famly struggling with everyday life. Winning millions changed everything and the shows became pointless and boring to me.

I have to agree, the last season when they became millionaires SUCKED! And they brought that god awful Prince in to romance Jackie. If that writing was indeed Rosanne's idea, then she would NEVER write for my show! (If I had one..LOL!) She was best sticking to the acting.

The last season was a JOKE. I would just nod my head....why would she go that path? and the Prince that Jackie felt for...I didn't like that, she could of done better.
and Dan passing away...that made me cry! it was a bad season all around.

In an interview Roseanne explains that when that the reason she changed things was when she was younger she had been told that if you were born poor, you would die poor and decided to once again to base the fact of the show on her real-life which lead to the Conner's becoming rich. However, I agree the last season was horrible, the only thing that amazes is Roseanne said that she never did a tenth season... Honestly, the ratings had dropped a great deal I don't understand how the network's would pick the show up for another season. Unless, this is just dream that Roseanne always wanted to do but didn't just because she decided to end it. Personally, I am glad she ended when she did because I firmly believe if the show had gone on for another season it would have been cancelled. Not unless she planned to pick up where season 9 had ended and show her 'real' life.
