I like her in the role. Her character Maggie was a lot like Julia Sugarbaker in some ways. Quite domineering and outspoken. I thought her and Conrad Bain looked compatible as husband and wife.

The problem with Maggie was her character was not well developed. It would had been nice to see her and Drummond's relationship develop and her interaction with the kids more. It was like one week they met, got engaged the following week and married the next.

Plus I thought Dixie Carter looked quite hot in Diff'rent Strokes.

I did not like Sam. That kid rubbed me the wrong way.

Good call. She fit in MUCH better on Designing Women.

I preferred her as Maggie than Mary Ann Mobley in the final season, simply because Dixie Carter had more of an edge and personality. With that being said, I do agree that they rushed her relationship w/ Phillip. It's like literally, she appeared in three episodes (the episode that introduced her, the two part "Hitchhikers" episode, and the two part Universal Studios episode that introduced Sam) before they got married.
