I'm going to purchase a digital camera, and was wondering what kind of cameras you guys have, and do you like it? :)

I bought a Kodak at Wal-Mart for $110.00 and I'm happy with the quality of the photos. Make sure you get a camera with a 2 1/2 inch view screen!

*raises hand* If anyone knows about digital cameras and quality of pictures, it's me.

My family's camera is a Nikon Coolpix. (12.1 MP) and it takes fantastic pictures. But if youre not into photography like I am, and you just want one to take family pictures, I'd recomend something a little less professional (it'll be easier on your wallet. Our camera was almost $400! YIKES!)

The one in my yearbook class is a Cannon (Not sure the model) and it's 8.1 MP, I think. It's really cool. It has a flip out screen so you can do self portraits but it's really heavy and really expensive ($500)

To start, I'd get something cheaper ($100-$200 range) and then upgrade.

I'm looking to spend 1-2 hundred. The camera we had before was a Kodak abt 5 or 6yrs old. It still worked good, but my wife dropped it in the lake while we were boating yesterday.

Heh... I spent about $375 on my current camera when I got it last year. Canon PowerShot SD630 + memory card for it.

Check out the Canons and Nikons... they're pretty good general-use cameras, and you can get one for $200 easy. Prices on memory cards have dropped a LOT as well, so you can get a 1GB or 2GB card for pretty cheap. 4GB cards are still pricey, but that'll come down in time.

I have a Kodak Easy Share. Takes good pictures. I don't know how much Kodaks are new though because I bought mine used. But it's a good, easy-to-use camera.

I have a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W55 (7.2 MP) . It's my second digital camera (my other camera is a Sony too) and so far I'm pretty happy with it. The picture quality is excellent and is very easy to use, plus it also comes in different colors.

I have an Olympus FE-190. I can take up to 4000 pictures. Depending what kind of memory card you buy. It is also a videocamera. It has many features that allow you to adjust accordingly such as landscape shots, indoor shots, I can easily delete pictures. I bought this camera over a year ago and paid $180 for it at Circuit City. I can watch the video on television or on computer. I can easily download the pics on my computer and print them out. I buy the photo paper and get the exact same quality of pictures that I would get if I were to take film to be developed. Since I bought my camera, I have not had to go take pics to be developed. ;) It is great being able to take many pics and to actually see how my pictures came out immediately. I hated when I would take pictures with my old camera only to find out that many pics didn't come out good until I got them developed . With my digital, I don't have that worry.
