My son says that the same phone number is used for two different things. In the Joe Namath episode, Bobby asks him to call back at 555-6161, and that's the same number Kartoon King gives to call to be on the show.

My son also noticed something a few minutes ago. At the opening of the 3rd season (and I assume the 2nd also), Cindy very briefly has her hand up at her face at the very beginning. The DVD happened to be paused at exactly the right moment, and that's how he saw it.

555 was the typical prefix for a phony telephone number back then. It didn't cause any problems because back then no real telephone number started with 555. It is interesting that they re-used the suffix though!

It is visible for 5 (maybe 6 because the first one is real dark!) frames during the girls fade in. I'm not sure that is Cindy's hand though, it looks to me like that of a female crew member/makeup artist who had made an adjustment to the angle of Cindy's face (standing to the left so others could see Cindy) and didn't quite get her hand out of the way in time.

I've tried to adjust the brightness, contrast and saturation to make it more visible, by the time the picture fades in all the way the hand is gone. You would probably never notice it if it wasn't paused!

To see something a little more obvious, check out the season 4 squares where mike hiccups as he goes from Greg to Peter.
