Which two castaways represent Gilligan's most significant relationships on the island and how would you label or describe each of these relationships?

The Skipper and Gilligan - Buddies (The Skipper even often called Gilligan "Li'l
Buddy"). Like Stan (Laurel) and Ollie (Hardy), you could tell that they really
cared about each other (even when they were on the brink of killing each other!).

The Skipper and Gilligan- the Skipper acted as both a father figure and metor to Gilligan. The Skipper was the person Gilligan strived to be like and please. Likewise, although he got annoyed with 'little buddy' the Skipper really cared for Gilligan, as we see in several episodes when Gilligan leaves or is hurt or something.

It's really hard to come up with an obvious second choice; afteral since there were only seven castaways they all were close... but if you insist. ;)

I'm going to go with...

MaryAnn and Gilligan- (gee, didn't see that coming ). Aside from a possible romantic aspect of their relationship, MaryAnn and Gilligan seemed to understand each other. Gilligan and MaryAnn were most likely the two who actually didn't mind being stranded. Also, MaryAnn never seemed upset with Gilligan and often times took up for him when everybody else was angry at the kid; this meant a lot to Gilligan. And if you look at the other castaways and their relationships with Gilligan: the Professor was to far above Gilligan's intelligence level, the Howells were... well the Howells, and Ginger was to glamorous for Gilligan.

Of course, the most significant relationship for Gilligan is the one with the Skipper...The father & son relationship.Gilligan probably didn't have that much carring from his real father. But,since it was already mentionned.

I'll go with the professor & Gilligan..Brotherly relationship. The professor often acts like a big brother to Gilligan.Gilligan asks him alot of questions about science and the professor answers the best he can. They look out for each other too.

I like Gilligan & Howells.Thurston acts like a rich uncle to Gilligan and Lovey like a loving mother. She gives him alot of advices & Thurston is always trying to bribe him...It's probably attentional too but,he's doing Gilligan a big favor. Our little budy will no longuer be so innocent when it will come to financial matters.
