Hello my fellow members of the Back To Youniverse,

I have been talking to my people in the know and there has been 'some movement' on BTY being picked up and renewed! I can't get into specifics, but our campaign is definitely making an impact. Sides are talking and things are shaking up a bit.

My mission for all of you, if you choose to accept it, KEEP PRESSING FORWARD! If you haven't sent in a water bottle or two, send it, if you have not sent a post card, email me and I will provide you with the template. We are close, so now is critical to not let up. What Kelsey and Patricia don't want is for people to sacrifice their families for the show, just continue to be passionate. More information as it becomes available...

Ain't No Stopping Us Now!

PS,

There is word that Kelsey will be doing a pilot presentation for another show pretty soon. DO NOT GET NERVOUS! Back to YOU is still in "1st position" for him at this time.

Thanks for the update, Brian! I really think we are making an impact - too bad you ca't say much more (don't worry, I understand) but at least we are getting somewhere with this show. We really do have to keep things up, though, if we want it to work. PLEASE SEND WATER! SEND A LETTER OR 2 TO THE NETWORKS! EMAIL BRIAN FOR THE POSTCSRD! Whatever you can do, all is definitely appreciated!

Kelsey is working on a pilot . . . that's a bit surprising to me, but I guess you can't make money by waiitng around for some fan-based campaign to save a show that's already been cancelled. I hope all goes well for him, no matter what happens. :)

Kelsey Grammer has joined the cast of ABC comedy pilot "Roman's Empire," from Ashton Kutcher's Katalyst Films, CBS Paramount Network TV and ABC Studios.
Grammer, coming off the canceled Fox comedy "Back to You," will play an eccentric billionaire in the comedy about a guy who can't get away from his ex girlfriend's wealthy family. Cast also includes comic Nick Thune, who inked a development pact with ABC and ABC Studios earlier this year (Daily Variety, March 3).More than one option(Co) Daily Variety

Lensing on the single-camera comedy began over the weekend.

"Empire" is based on a British comedy of the same name from comedy shop Tiger Aspect, which is also a coproducer on the U.S. rendition. ABC pilot was penned by Al Higgins. Exec producers include Kutcher, Jason Goldberg, Karey Burke, Andrew Zein and Ben Cavey.

Grammer is repped by CAA.

It actually sounds like a pretty good show plot - the only downside is that it's single-camera, which I've tried once, and will never watch again :D

No matter what happens, I wish Kelsey all the best!

Hey guys and gals,

I have just been informed that June 11th is the drop dead date for this show to be picked up. There are rumblings of something happening by that date, so now is critical to step up our efforts. We can expect roadblocks to stand in our way from now until then, but WE MUST NOT GET DISCOURAGED!

The entire crew is now aware of our campaign and are using it as part of the negotiation process. The higher ups have taken notice over the strong fan support. Patricia, Kelsey and the rest are behind us 100%, and have asked us to please continue to press on. I will give you more updates as they become available, but I will tell you this, our voices are being heard!

Please, if you haven't done so yet, send water, a dollar, a postcard, sign the petition. Tell your friends and family to participate, even if they are not fans of this show, get people involved. This has truly been a great experience and it will not end just yet. There is potential for some big news later on...

So we have less time than we expected . . . so what? That just means we'll have to work harder these next couple of weeks. The petition definitely has to get moving again. We're at a little over 5200 signatures. I'm thinking that 10,000 maybe be too many to get by June 11th. I think we should set our eyes on at least 7500.

People really need to start sending more water, or whatever else they can send. Brian, can you tell us if the negotiations being made are with CBS are FOX? because I'm thinking maybe we should start sending water and postcards to FOX as well - or even both if we have to.

What about getting Roseanne Barr to blog about it on her website. After all, Fred Willard was on the show quite a few times. Probably about 15-20 episodes in the last two seasons! Just an idea. I hear her website pulls in major traffic!

Here is what I wrote to her anyway...

Hey Roseanne,

I know you are a very busy actress, but if you could, could you please take a look at a campaign that me and quite a few other people have put together to save a great sitcom starring somebody you are very familiar with, Fred Willard! The name of the sitcom is called 'Back To You' and it was unceremoniously canceled a few weeks ago.

I am sure you coming from the classic "multi camera" format for sitcoms, you have a place special in your heart for this dying breed. We are in the process of sending FOX a boatload of bottled water (a little reference to a joke in an episode of the show.) and an online petition. We are doing whatever we can to save this show from going to the scrap heap. Is there anything you can do to help us, give us advice, get the word out, etc?

Here are some links to our campaign

Please Roseanne, ANYTHING you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

That's awesome - I just realized I forgot to send a letter to Fred. I sent one to Kelsey, but not Fred Willard. I'll have to put one together right now!

But, yeah, I'd love to read what he had to say. And an autographed photo is cool, too.

Hello everyone,

I just got word that some agents at CAA who think the appetite for BTY may be increasing at another network--nothing positive but a greater likelihood than last week. Kelsey doing another pilot actually might make it even more appetizing to pick up Back to You. We have confirmation that at least one studio head at FOX is aware of this campaign and certain knowledge that the actors and the producers of BTY have been monitoring the progress of this campaign and are thrilled beyond words that there has been such a positive response. All are resolved that if the show receives a second chance, the deficiencies of the show will be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

The studios are starting to buzz. Do NOT back down now. We are sooo close ladies and gentlemen. Trust me when I tell you that people are talking. If we can get more water over to FOX, along with postcards, we can show these studio heads that we will not stop until BTY is picked up. Whether that be on FOX, CBS, TBS, MY Network, the CW, etc...

Ain't no stopping us now!!!

Brian, that's absolutely great news! It sounds like this campaign has lit fire - seems like everyone is aware of what we're doing. I just wonder what network is going for it the most now. Sounds like FOX is re-interested in the show again, but it also sounds like CBS and ABC, or even NBC, are equally as wanting of this show. It's great news, though, that more than 1 network is interested in renewing it.

BTW, I've gotten an email back from Evian Natural Spring Water Company and Dasani/Coca-Cola. I'll post more about their emails at the campaign sticky thread.

Hi there, I've been out of town for the last 5 days but I was glad to return to a fully active forum. Thanks for keeping this campaign going . I have a lot of catching up to do but I have to say I love the idea of contacting the major water companies. I'll send my emails out tomorrow too.

On a slightly different note, I got to say I was a little bummed out at first to read that kelsey has already moved on to another project for ABC but I'm glad B2Y is still his priority.

Hi Sonia! Even though Kelsey does have a pilot waiting for him on the backburner, just to see that BTY is still his first priority shows how much he cares for the show. If he really wanted it to be over, he would have given up already. If he's not giving up, we shouldn't either!

And I got a few emails back today. One from Pepsi-Cola Company (not sure what brand of water it was-LOL) told me to send a letter to the local water distributor in Sacramento, California, because if I do, they'll most like donate a few cases of water! This is the closest we've gotten so far to getting donations. If you want, please send a letter to this address to help out:

7550 Reese Road
Sacramento, CA 95820

I'm sure the more letters they get, the more water they'll donate!

I'm on it ;) To whom should I address the letter to? The communication/marketing department? Who are we targeting now - still CBS or ABC?

I would never give up on the hope to bring BTY Back. I never expected any of the stars to sit around waiting either so it makes perfectly sense that Kelsey signed up for another project. Its timing makes me a little nervous though because every article covering this is implying that BTY's fate is done once an for all now that Kelsey got this new gig.

Anyways, we still got two more weeks, to hope, dream and fight some more!!!!

Well, if a miracle is going to happen, it needs to happen NOW!!-LOL. But I'm totally with you guys, we have to really get the attention of the executives at these networks now! I'm sure they all know what we're doing, they just need to understand how much we really care for this show!

And about all these blogs, I'll read them, but I could care less what they have to say. None of them know for sure that this show is cancelled. They're just making guesses, going with what they think will happen. If anyone knows the opposite, it's us! We all really want this show to be renewed. I'd really love to change the music on the site from "There Ain't No Stopping Us now" to 'We Are the Champions!" :D

I was thinking... Kelsey just signed on to do a comedy pilot for ABC.

In early 2005, Patricia signed a development deal with ABC to create and star in her own sitcom. That show never materialized and there's been no official announcement on the status of the deal, if it's still viable or not. (During the writers' strike ABC used force majore to end the development deals of the writers/producers who worked on the untitled Patricia Heaton project)

This maybe a long shot but...could this be the sign of hope for Back to You being picked up by ABC?

The meeting that Kelsey was to have with the network executives has been postponed until indefinitely due to Kelsey's recent heart attack. I will keep you posted when that meeting is to be rescheduled. There is a glimmer of hope for its renewal. So stay positive! It is a long shot at this point, but the meeting with Kelsey has yet to take place.

As for Kelsey himself, I am told that he is doing good, he is resting and taking it easy for now.

Stay tuned...

Kelsey should be meeting up with the network brass in the next couple of days. I am being told that Kelsey's interest waned a bit on this show during the writer's strike. However, after the strike he felt the episodes were getting stronger and reinvested his passion for this show to continue. We should know more next week.

Regardless of the outcome, I am being told that we may be blessed, with a suprise appearance or two on this forum by certain people... :D ;)

Great to know that the meeting will take place after all, let's hope with a positive outcome.

Thanks for the heads up Brian

Good to see Kelsey's still strong about this show, and that the meeting will take place soon.

And as for that last part, I have a few ideas about what that may mean, but besides that, I'm clueless, so I'll keep my mouth shut :D

Sounds like something positive to me. I hope we can get BTY back on. I love Kelsey and Patricia. Such chemistry.

Any news on when Kelsey is going to meet with the network execs? You'd think if this show was cancelled for good, someone would say something, but they're not, so I still have hope.

I think you're right. If the networks out right dont want to re-new the show, they would have said by now. I would think they would.

I just got word that Kelsey is headed here to the East Coast. He will be making his last ditch pitch to CBS in the next few weeks. Everyone is beginning their summer vacations and won't be around until after July 4th. No word about the future of the show until then. Everybody relax, say a prayer and well..............wait. I am being told that it is completely out of our hands now.

I really hope the network eats their words. Back to You is amazing, and the network needs to see that not everyone wants more reality. I've signed the petition to help things along. Hopefully Kelsey will get things straightened out.

I didn't think we'd actually still have a shot at getting this show renewed after June 11th, but now we're actually going to be taking things well into July, which is definitely something to be proud of.

Let's hope that CBS sees that this show has potential. Let's hope they realize that their new sitcoms for next season will be complete flops, and they'll need a show like Back to You to refuel their Wednesday night sitcoms ;)

Brian, I just spoke to Stan Rosenfield, Kelsey's publicist. I told him about these "updates" and he said they are not true at all. So I don't know who your "contact" is, but it is not true about Kelsey going to CBS executives. The only part that was true was that he is in NY because he has a summer home there and he is resting there now. He is in fine health now but he is recovering from a heart attack.

Stan also said Kelsey had already gone to CBS over a month ago, and hasn't since. It's a done deal because Nina Tassler never wanted the show and Kelsey went to Les Moonves who did show some interest, but he ultimately passed. So it is 99.9% confirmed now that it will not return. Kelsey has already shot his pilot for ABC at the beginning of June, before his heart attack, so that is already completed. If picked up, it will air in mid-season.

I just knew something was not right because Nina herself told me in the beginning of this month, shortly after Kelsey signed on for the ABC pilot, that they had no interested in picking-up Back to You. Don't believe me? Contact Stan yourself. Julie can also for a fair third party view.

I swear on my children that I have been getting updates from someone very close to this negotiation. I will not reveal who that is, but I would like that number you have and I will contact them ASAP.

Oh, by the way, you are a jack ass for trying to embarrass me publicly, nice try though.

Pavan

Brian, no one is trying to embarass you. This is SitcomsOnline and I do look at all the news posts other people post, and there have been many times when I have caught false information. How would you like it if something false was posted on your website? It would look bad if something started from your website and was spread on to other websites. It would make that website look bad.

I'm not denying your contact at all. I believe you, but Stan told me there is nothing going on with Back to You. His number is (310) 407-3444.

It would've been better if you pm'd me or emailed me privately and I would gladly show you where I was getting my info from. If I had been had, it was someone who knew about info before it came out, such as Kelsey getting a pilot on ABC before it made the trades. So, the point I am making is,

1. You set me up

or

2. You are trying to embarrass me

Either way Pav, it isn't really smart to do that.

Pavan

I'm not setting you up or embarrassing you, as I stated already. I didn't email/PM you because you would have never told me who your contact is or where you were getting this information. You would have accused me for heckling or whatever. Feel free to email me your contact, and I'll let Stan know about it. He is a pretty nice guy.

I just want correct information, as I'm sure you do, too.

Bull **** and you know know it Pav. If TJ wants it, I'll email it to him. Your intention was to embarrass me. I don't trust you as far as I can throw you...actually I take that back, I don't trust you.

Third time: I'm not embarassing you. How many times do I have to say it? Even if I emailed/PMed you would have done the same thing you are doing now. What is the difference?

You don't have to "trust" me as I said before, contact Stan yourself.

Brian, I'd kind of like to know too. You've been great at giving us all this info for the past month on this show, but so far, nothing has been done. Back to You is still cancelled, and according to Pavan, who I doubt is a liar, there is still nothing be done.

Granted, this kind of lets me down. Brian, will you please contact your contact and ask what's up at the least?

Julie, if I was duped, then I apologize to you and everybody involved. I just have this gut feeling that my source was legit. I had info fed to me before it broke in the news, such as Kelsey signing on to a new sitcom and other inside info.

I swear on my children and my unborn child who is on the way, that I was getting this info legitimately. I told Pav who my source was and if he wants to investigate, he is more than welcome.

I would not doubt you Brian. I can say on your behalf that you are a genuine guy and regarding BTY, I know you wouldn't say things if you had an inkling it wasn't true. I believe you when you say you have no doubts abt your source and I know your kind of work provides you the opportunity to find out things the rest of us would only dream of. Thank you for what you have done so far and I appreciate all the hard work you have put into this issue.

If BTY is never renewed, it is the fault of the network.

Also let me say I had no idea you were expecting a baby. :D I want to congratulate you and your beautiful wife and I pray God blesses you two with a healthy baby. ;)

Well, even Josh Gad kind of implied that there was a slight hope Back might be picked up by another network when he wrote to me early this month in facebook. That was after Kelsey shot the pilot for ABc and after he had the heart attack. So I don't think we were imagining that there was some movement going on with other networks.

As far as the status of those negotiations now, I'll tell the truth I've got my doubts because buzz on the show has completely died, and networks are announcing casting on new pilots every day. So my hopes on a potental return are close to none.

Having said that I have nothing but lots of appreciation for you Brian, and everything you've done around here. If your source is reliable or not, time will show, but I don't have the slightest doubt that every report you did here was done with good intentions trying to keep us informed. I would have done the same.

Congrats on the new baby! Glad you kept yourself busy  Just kidding :happyface

Brian, I never doubted you, and I still don't doubt you. I'm sure your contact was reliable, but we haven't heard any news on this show in a long time, and we're still not for certain if Kelsey is going to talk to CBS or not.

BTW, congratulations on your new baby. I really could be happier for you! :happyface

I don't think Brian's contact was reliable. I saw the correspondence, and it looked legitimate, so I can easily see why Brian believed this person. However, where is that contact now? Sorry to say, but my opinion is that Brad was had. It could happen to anyone. Unless that person steps forward, my opinion stays the same. I hope the person steps forward now and proves me wrong, but enough time has passed. I think Brian was the victime of a cruel hoax.
