Gymnastics Ep.

It was stated that Maggie went on a field trip with Arnold????????-lol

Now why the hell would that happen when Mr. Drummond would have went with Arnold? Anyone else agree that made no sense?

Watching the 3pm ep now and in this ep about Sam playing baseball it says that Maggie and Arnold are in Palm beach-lol

So out of 4 eps today so far, 3 of them have no Arnold

So something was up! Was Maggie gone from three episodes as well?

Since these are in production order, did Dixie Carter already decide to jump ship?

Good question. I need to research.

Out of the 4 eps shown today Maggie was missing in 3 and Arnold was missing in 3. Maggie's absence wasn't explained in the ep with PUNKY BREWSTER-lol
Arnold was in the Punky Brewster ep

Was she actually playing the character Punky Brewster?

(Again, missed the 2pm-3pm episodes)

Arnold's absence along with Maggie was unexplained in this episode-lol Dixie Carter must have already ROTATED off the show

Quality went downhill a bit during this season but I was still glued to the show.

Shavar Ross said Gary didn't like Dixie Carter, according to TJ, so that is probably a reason why Carter wasn't on some season 7 episodes and why she wasn't back for the eighth season on ABC.

I do know Dixie stated that she was uncomfortable on DS and that is why she chose not stay with the show.

I've heard that, I think that's why she took the role on Designing Women. The best thing she could have done, since DS was almost at it's end.

Actually I found out that DW didn't start until after ABC canceled the show--so I was wrong on that part!--oops!

Yeah DW started in the spring of 86 and she was missing during the 84-85 season of DS so it defintely looks like she was missing due to tension on the set.

But see these are the things that E! tHS should be discussing, not the life of Dana plato and Gary coleman AFTER DS.

Maggie's absence was explained in "Sam's New Pal." Sam said to Terry that she was in Washington D.C. at an exercise convention.

Well she was in today's episodes and they have only a few episodes left in this season. I saw the THS and I don't remember them mentioning that there was tension between her and Gary. I must've missed that part.

You didn't miss anything, E! just talked about the personal lives of the actors, not once did they talk about the show

As for Maggie going to DC with Arnold on his class trip maybe this was a chance for step mom and step son to bond in a comfortable way. Arnold would be with his classmates and enjoying Washington DC and so there was no pressure being 1 on 1. This was a perfect way for Maggie to show Arnold that she loved and cared for him since that was an issue. A story arc that has been used during seasons 6 and 7 is Arnold adjusting to Maggie and learning that she loved him as much as Willis and Kimberly (he stated during the wedding episode that he felt that Maggie loved Kimberly and Willis more) and Maggie loved Arnold and wanted to connect with him. As for why Dixie didn't appear in certain episodes-if it was her issues with Gary then if Gary wasn't in certain episodes then why didn't she-perfect opportunity to not work with Gary.
