Are the CW's days numbered?

Na na, na na na na, hey hey goodbye....I always thought there were way too many networks anyway. The only shows I like are Smallville, the only new show I'm curious about is 90210. Other than that I don't watch CW.

it seems like the CW is doing their level best to go out quietly and we should respect their efforts to do so and honor them by doing our part and not watching their shows.

I hope not (for a while, anyway); Smallville and Supernatural are

Not going to happen anytime soon.....Gossip Girls gets them alot of press, the new 90210, etc.......if anything the whole "My Network TV" primetime will hopefully be turned back to the local affliates.....that is the thing that needs to go.....anyone remember the novellas?

Yeah, I think 4 networks is enough. The CW was pulling in good ratings in its initial season, but lately, every show on there has been a dud.

Maybe if The CW folds The WB could come back since they are going to be airing on the web soon. I could see The WB pulling it off if they act more like a cable net and air repeats of shows and a few new ones. I can also see Viacom dropping their old UPN shows and The WB could take them gaining only ratings hits like Everybody Hates Chris and maybe revive Veronica Mars which was a bad decision to cancel.

Gossip Girl gets a lot of Press but the ratings are awful . I read an article just last week about it. The show is not a hit, even though the network's trying to make it one. If 90210 doesn't break out next year I think the network's dead. The only reason Smallville came back was because it's their top script show and it will probably be ending after nect year too.

I saw a promo for 90210....looks like one big snoozefest.

They're bringing Kelly back....she was my least favorite character. I want Brenda. They need Shannen because one way or another she'll keep them in the news. :lol:

and they can run promos for 90210 with Shannen sashaying into town to the tune of Elton John's "The Bi*** is Back!" :D

I, for one, would love to see the return of independent stations. Maybe then we'd see reruns of GOOD shows again!!

I'm getting more, and more convinced that Dawn Ostroff is the main reason why the CW is going downhill. That woman has no real vision when it comes to running a major, over-the-air broadcast television network. Trying to focus your target audience strictly on young women is very ignorant. We already have Lifetime and Oxygen for that.

I definately see them folding in the next few years. Maybe not next year, though. There is nothing on this network to draw people. They have created no new shows that have really been big hits (they try to play up Gossip Girl, but like another poster said the ratings aren't impressive at all). Most of the WB carryovers that did well are running out of steap (ahem, Smallville). They cancelled Girlfriends, which did always decent I believe. It was time for it to go though.

I'd just assume see CW and MyNetwork TV close and let the affiliates go back to independent stations. I see The CW going before MNTV, though, as MNTV has lower overhead with the reality/specialty shows.

I'm still upset they pulled the plug on Reba and that show did really well!

MNTV may have a sporting chance next year with SmackDown! heading there. May give MNTV that extra revenue to develop new stuff or obtain other cult faves.

Why does the CW put Gossip Girl on such a pedestal? I see nothing special about the show or, more importantly, the ratings.

I certainly thought the OMFG campaign was in incredible poor taste. And no, it has not gotten me to watch Gossip Girl.
