Mr. Television 05-19-2008, 11:07 PM As Archie and Edith would say. " Those were the days." :)
Ireneparalegal 05-19-2008, 11:10 PM That's what I say. ;)
Brieannas21 05-20-2008, 12:27 AM The Cosby Show still comes on??????
But yeah the lineup sucks big time now. Although I'm starting to get into George Lopez now.
Ireneparalegal 05-20-2008, 12:42 AM FP needs to get off the schedule!!!!!! DAMN!
Mr. Television 05-20-2008, 12:47 AM The Cosby Show still comes on??????
But yeah the lineup sucks big time now. Although I'm starting to get into George Lopez now.
George Lopez has always been an underrated show.
jasonbigley 05-20-2008, 01:51 AM In the 2000 line-up, for some odd reason to me, it just seemed more cozy. If there was ever a night were I could not sleep, I would tune into Nick At Nite. Years ago, a lot of cable stations had GREAT late night programming- all gone now. I remember in 2000 when Nick At Nite also had those National Christian Children's Fund Commercials. Those used to scare me! lol.
Chelsea 05-20-2008, 02:02 AM Before anyone gets *that* fond of the schedule, notice: It's just the same schedule repeated over again, with Wonder Years instead of I Love Lucy at the end. Still miles better though, IMO
James 05-20-2008, 03:27 AM I remember in 2000 when Nick At Nite also had those National Christian Children's Fund Commercials. Those used to scare me! lol.
Those were the commercials hosted by David Eckert, right? I think they were more of the infomercial variety.
DSfan 05-20-2008, 09:23 AM I think a major problem with N@N and other stations is that they have all fallen in love with the back-to-back airings of series which means that they will be airing less shows, ratings will be good for popular, yet overplayed shows like Fresh Prince, and the execs get greedy and keep airing what gives them ratings, not even thinking about the possibilities that other schedules for their channel could bring in even better ratings.
I wish all of us at this site could produce a Nick at Nite lineup. It would be great, I mean they are adding Everybody Hates Chris in 2009. What is up with that?
jasonbigley 05-20-2008, 09:38 AM According to Wikipedia: Everybody Hates Chris, Friends, The Nanny, and I think Frasier are coming to the line-up in the next 3 years. I bet 10 dollars that Friends will rule the line-up in 2011. When I saw that Everybody Hates Chris is coming in 2009, I wanted to vomit. I think one reason that Nick At Nite is adding all these more recent shows is because Nickelodeon oversees the Nick At Nite operations now. In the future, we probably wont even hear of Nick At Nite or it will be called The Nickelodeon Night Block.
TVFactFan 05-20-2008, 10:55 AM N@N is still the 2nd Best Cable Channel of 2008
bencasey 05-20-2008, 11:28 AM Screw 2000. Here's a classic Nick at Nite schedule from September 1987:
8:00 Donna Reed Show
8:30 Mr. Ed
9:00 My Three Sons
9:30 Ann Sothern Show
10:00 Car 54
10:30 The Monkees
11:00 I Spy
12:00 rerun schedule from 8PM
Oh, and one more thing. Back then they ran the shows COMPLETE, not cut by 3 or 4 minutes.
benjamoon 05-20-2008, 12:22 PM I think N@N's best era was circa late 1994
8:00 I Dream of Jeannie
8:30 Bewitched
9:00 I Love Lucy
9:30 Mary Tyler Moore
10:00 Taxi
10:30 Taxi
11:00 Bob Newhart Show
11:30 Dick Van Dyke Show
12:00 Get Smart
12:30 Dragnet
1:00 Alfred Hitchcock Presents
1:30 Superman
2:00 Lucy Show
2:30 F Troop
they also aired Mork & Mindy, White Shadow, and Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour on weekends
Can you imagine N@N having that many shows?!?!
And this is not even including all the fantastic commercials and programming stunts they used to have (I LOVED very very Nick at Nite!)
Ireneparalegal 05-20-2008, 12:35 PM Any channel that airs White Shadow is fine in my book. ;)

Not many people had N@N back then so that's probably why
Ireneparalegal 05-20-2008, 12:46 PM Not many people had N@N back then
True.
The only thing I see on that list that I would care to watch is The Monkees and My Three Sons.

Nice schedule but unfortunately by that time they were butchering everything down to 22 minutes a half hour. In my mind that makes it virtually worthless. I don't watch cut programs.
TVFactFan 05-20-2008, 06:14 PM True.
The only thing I see on that list that I would care to watch is The Monkees and My Three Sons.
I remember that Monkees Theme song scaring the hell out of me as a child-lol
"HERE WE COME, WALKING THE STREET!!!!!!!!!
LOL

They say memory is the second thing to go.....
KurtfromPitts 05-21-2008, 01:59 PM I remember they once, back in '88-89, said "Our reruns are better than theirs". Comparing N@N to local stations' offerings.
gotsmart 05-21-2008, 03:51 PM Wow if only N@N were like that today..... it seems like they will never resurrect that schedule since they seem to be adding more modern shows.
Does anyone else remember when N@N's slogan was "Preserving Television Heritage"? They certainly don't seem to be living up to that these days.
DSfan 05-21-2008, 06:48 PM I loved the one "N@N the place for tv hiiiiits, N@N the place for tv hits!"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=k0hAl8vzzLU
TVFactFan 05-21-2008, 06:56 PM N@N was very good to me from 1999-2002
DSfan 05-21-2008, 08:24 PM Same here. I remember when there were Brady Tuesday's and each show had a certain night. I forget which was Gilligan and they also had Bewitched and many others :)
Adamantium 05-21-2008, 11:04 PM My favorite eras of Nick at Nite was from 1988 to around 1991. Then 1994 to 2000.
Oddly enough a lot of the shows that aired in the era I didn't like N@N were shows I didn't like back then, but now I love. Shows such as F Troop and Dragnet.
Some of my fondest memories of childhood are staying up as late as I could, watching The Donna Reed Show, My Three Sons, Make Room for Daddy, The Patty Duke Show and other classics. And then in my teen years, staying up late either on Summer breaks or weekends watching The Munsters, I Love Lucy, Taxi and others.
It was my love for Nick at Nite back in the day that makes me hate it so much today.

That goes back to the Summer of '94.
Mary Mondays (The Mary Tyler Moore Show)
Lucy Tuesdays (I Love Lucy)
Bewitched Be-Wednesdays (Bewitched)
Jeannie Thursdays (I Dream of Jeannie)
Sgt. Joe Fridays (Dragnet)

dakert 05-22-2008, 12:53 PM Adam-
I couldnt agree more
The great programs from the 50s-70s and the FUN times with N@N in the 80s-early 90s makes me feel less kindly toward TV today

Ah I remember that schedule!!! ;)
DSfan 05-22-2008, 04:11 PM I'm scared for the future in about 40 years when the young people of today will get channels for the retro shows (today's present shows) but because we got to see them so much now that they won't be special. Like for example, my dad loves to watch Happy Days and all those shows because its something you remember but seriously in 40-50 years who, that is of the young generation, is going to be looking forward to seeing Fresh Prince and Friends? (This could all change if they get taken off tv for a while and then they become more watchable but I find that tv shows these days all are less special because of the fact that there is the internet and dvds as well to watch these shows and they aren't as rare or special as they used to be.
Adamantium 05-22-2008, 04:22 PM The main thing I loved about Classic Nick was it's sense of humor. All the commercials really made me laugh and were clever. I still have a tape of Nick at Nite's Tenth Anniversary where they had a half hour special called "Those Nick at Nite Promos." It was all their best commercials.
And my favorite Block Party Summer lineup was probably the very next summer.
1995:
Munster Mondays
Lucy Tuesdays
Bewitched Be-Wednesdays
Jeannie Thursdays
Kotter Fridays

It's a shame N@N no longer does the block party summer lineups.

It's a shame N@N doesn't do a lot of the things it used to.

In the summer of 2002, I would rush home from work and almost knock down old ladies to the ground so I could watch the summer block party on N@N by 9pm-lol

:( I sure miss the good shows.
I'd be happy if they gave us a few old shows at a time scattered in between the crap shows.
I got bored and Gave George Lopez a chance and liked it. BUT...just as the Fresh Price, they show the same ones OVER and OVER.
