I got an advance copy of collection 3 and and as usual they did a fantastic job....No episodes this time have the original sponsor plug like in collection 2 when one slipped in! There is some jitter and problems in some of the episodes, but that goes with transferring 40 year old videotape...I believe these were not shot on film.....I changed this entire post because I realized I forgot about some of my tapes and now realize 12 or 13 episodes have yet to be released that have aired on american life cable. I just can't wait to get rid of my nearly 22 VHS tapes containing all the american life cable runs. So much shelf space! So no question for the experts but feel free to weigh in, but I can confirm that collection 3 is excellent!

I'm betting that the "cross-country" episodes of 1969-70 will fit the bill.

But I noticed such episodes were not included in the episode guide in The Honeymooners' Companion (cutting off just before "The New Manager" episode).

The cross-country episodes were shown on American Life. I know, I just recorded them here within the last couple of weeks (having missed one show by accident). Plus, right now American Life is back into the Europe shows in the rerun cycle.

I know MPI isn't releasing an episode from the 1966-1967 season, so the real question maybe should be what is American Life airing that MPI isn't releasing?

That question (as I'm sure many of you can as well) I can answer when I see a episode list for collection 4.....I will then do a cross reference because I know I taped every episode American Life has as they premiered when they were still goodlife TV...their first airings were a mess, none were in order, sometimes they would run repeat episodes instead of the scheduled new one because Paul Brownstein (the distributor) hadn't given it to them yet, I use to call them and they were very honest and friendly!

According to what Rob (Videowack) had on his trade list, plus other lists that I have seen, 42 episodes aired on Goodlife/American Life. At one time it may have been the case that reruns and missed episodes, but I can speak for myself that I have seen all the color episodes available minus two or three. I did not record many of them since the shows are being released on DVD. I do have some saved, though.

I have a total of 42 episodes on my 21 VHS collection I recorded off american life.....but with 29 released so far, that means 13 episodes would have to be on collection 4.

"Life Upon the Wicked Stage" from the 1966-1967 season was not released, it was left off of the second volume where it should have been included. On the 3rd volume all episodes from the 1967-1968 season are included, as are the full length shows from the 1968-1969 season which equals 12 episodes. The 1969-1970 season included 12 hour long shows, and these are the 12 that should be released on the 4th volume. This will equal 41 of the 42 shows that will be released.

I would like to see a seperate bonus disc or 5th volume release of the short sketches from the 1968-1969 season released as well. Then again, maybe MPI is holding on to them for future Gleason releases? Since the 1973 sketch will be released as a bonus (the release of this is worth the price of admission alone) then maybe the chances of seeing these short sketches released is good. I mean, a perfect release would be the two 1962 Sue Ane Langdon shows, the "Adoption" show from 1966, plus the short sketches. And if they want to be generous, the 1970s reunions as well.

For some reason I have a feeling that within the next couple of years we may get a slew of Gleason releases from MPI. Just a hunch .... I don't have any inside information or otherwise I would have shared that long ago!

I should have known that the missing episode was "Life upon a wicked stage", that episode was scheduled and cancelled three times on goodlife before they finally aired it, must be sometype of rights/clearance problem with that one.....well I'll transfer it to dvd and stick it in the collection 2 box when I decide to get rid of the tapes!
