Kane 05-17-2008, 02:53 PM I just wanted to give whomever concerned a heads up since it hasn't been on the air for the past couple weeks because of NASCAR. I was aware of it, and I have no intention of missing it. :) If a show could help capture just one fugitive, that's good. But if it could help capture hundreds and then thousands of fugitives, then that is nothing short of superb. When America's Most Wanted first aired in early 1988, the Fox network had only been in operation for a little less than a year. At the time, there were only a handful of Fox affiliates, including channel 25 in my area. Believe it or not, John Walsh turned down the initial offer to host the show, but changed his mind after learning about a fugitive named David James Roberts, whose murder victims included two small children. Roberts was profiled during the first telecast of AMW, and he soon became the show's first capture. Some people doubted the show would result in the capture of any fugitives. Well, needless to say, it wasn't long before that skepticism came back to haunt them! :D |
