THE COMPLEX

Starring Greg Kinnear as Mitch Erickson, a middle-aged divorcee-turned-single dad who works as a live-in landlord of a San Diego apartment complex. Mitch Erickson's apartment complex is fill of quirky renters who's lives are just as chaotic as Mitch's. Mitch's ex-wife ran off with his college roommate, leaving Mitch with sole custody of their bright 12-year-old son, Dylan Erickson (Skyler Gisondo). The newest tenant is the quite beautiful Wisconsin-native Chelsea Martin (Maggie Lawson). Chelsea has moved to San Diego from her Wisconsin hometown after accepting a teaching position at a high school as a Language Arts teacher. Chelsea, soon after moving into and getting situated into the complex, becomes warmly befriended by the other tenants. The tenants include: the oversexed, man-hungry former Hollywood starlet (from the 70's and 80's), Shar Davisson (Sharon Lawrence) who tries to compensate for her fading sex appeal by getting plastic surgery and seducing younger men; the super-friendly, perky single mom/dental hygenist, Kathie Verona (Melissa McCarthy) along with her precocious 12-year-old daughter, Caitlin Verona (Abigail Breslin); the voluptuous, aspiring plus-sized actress, Lindsay Shaw (Marisa Jaret Winokur) who's wants to make her "big break" into stardom; the newly-married young couple, Paul and Rachel Salinger (Eric Christian Olsen, Shannon Lucio) who both work as bartenders and beginning to adjust to their newfound married life; the macho, smooth bachelor, Malik Young (Marques Houston) who is now an ex-male underwear model; the funny handyman of the complex, Jaoquin Ramirez (Julio Oscar Mechoso) who looks out for Chelsea like a surrogate uncle; and lastly, the sensitive-but-masculine gay couple, Josh Randall and Kevin Marshall (Ben Savage, Kyle Howard) who've been together for past two years now. Josh works as a high school Current Events teacher (at same school as Chelsea), and Kevin works as a pastry chef. Watch how Chelsea adjusts from simple Wisconsin life to crazy San Diego life, as well as Mitch and the tenants experience the trials and tribulations of living their everyday lives in their San Diego apartment complex.

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
Chelsea moves into her apartment and adjusts to her new life in San Diego, as well as meeting and being befriended by her neighbors. Also, Chelsea prepares to begin her first day at her new teaching job, where she learns Josh is one of her colleagues, who volunteers to show her the ins and outs of being a teacher at their school. Elsewhere, Paul and Rachel celebrate their third month wedding anniversary, but can't seem to get into the mood due to other things interrupting them. Meanwhile, Mitch receives divorce papers in the mail from his estranged wife, and Mitch tries to find the most appropriate time to inform Dylan that his parents' marriage is over for good.


Ep2: Remake and Re-bake:
Shar learns that one of her most famous movies is being made into a remake, and her role is being played the gorgeous, highly-publicized, young Hollywood starlet - Kendra Thomas (Lindsay Lohan). Shar decides to audition for a part in the movie as her former role's mother (despite that fact she has in the past refused to play a supporting character role). Elsewhere, Kathie gets roped into baking cookies for Caitlin's school bake sale, but ends up burning the first couple batches and has to re-bake more cookies, which leads to frustrating results when she has to continue the process all over again after she burns the second batch as well. Chelsea is invited over to Josh and Kevin's apartment for dinner one night, the trio have a good time along with a few cocktails.

Ep3: Bed and Bar Hopping:
Josh and Kevin invite Chelsea to come along with them to their weekend haven- a gay nightclub. While at the bar, Kevin bumps into an old boyfriend, and Chelsea is mistaken for a lesbian on several occasions. Elsewhere, Paul and Rachel go out barhopping with Lindsay, Malik and his latest girlfriend - who ends up taking more interest in Paul and Rachel, and wanting a threesome with the couple--causing Rachel to be grossed out, Paul to be flattered, and Malik and Lindsay to feel left-out. Meanwhile, after being turned down for the role in the movie (due to her being a "has-been"), Shar decides to seduce the next man she comes in contact with (to regain her self-confidence back)---and ends up bedding Jaoquin, not once, not twice, but three times.

Ep4: Lights, Cameras, Action:
Lindsay turns to Shar for guidance when she about to go do her very first acting audition. After Shar's unethical seducing methods prove to be nothing but trouble for her, Lindsay goes behind Shar's back and turns to Malik's advice. Lindsay, accompanied by Malik, attends her first audition and even though, she doesn't get the role in the commerical, the director (Ryan Stiles) compliments Lindsay on her unique acting style and recommends she get an agent, which flatters Lindsay greatly. Meanwhile, Kevin has to back out last minute of plans to go to a Maroon 5 concert with Josh due to a problem at the restuarant. Josh ends up asking Chelsea to come with him to the concert and use Kevin's ticket. Elsewhere, Mitch and Kathie experience parenting dilemmas when Dylan and Caitlin both get in trouble for correcting and backtalking their teacher in front of the class.


Ep5: A Baby Maybe?:
Jaoquin gets a visit from his second ex-girlfriend, Julie (Amy Peohler) who is nine months pregnant and informs Jaoquin that she is carrying his child, even though Jaoquin doesn't believe her at first. After learning the buzz about Julie's baby, Mitch, Malik, and Kevin team up to convince Jaoquin to be 100% certain that the baby is his before he gives her any money or gets his heart set on becoming a dad. After Julie's baby is born and Jaoquin demands a paternity test, the results come back negative match between Jaoquin and the baby. Meanwhile, Paul and Rachel discuss having children. Rachel wants 3-4 kids, but Paul only wants 1-2 kids. Elsewhere, Dylan and Caitlin's sixth grade class decides to pull some pranks on their mean substitute teacher.
