Mutt Lange is one of the greatest record producers ever. I think that I would rank him second only to George Martin. Mutt was responsibe for some of rock's greatest albums like Pyromania and Hysteria by Def Leppard and Highway to Hell and Back In Black by AC/DC.

If Mutt and Shania seperate, he should contiune to produce her because I think her musical sucsess has been a major part his doing. He produces her albums and is the composer of her songs. Shania is an excellent live performer, but most of the magic she has captured on CD has been thanks to Mutt. I'm not sure she can do it without him.

Since Lange has a list of credits going back a long time, I would imagine there is a considerable difference in their ages.

She probably got bored living in the tax free land of Switzerland.

Yeah, there is a huge age difference between the two. I believe Mutt was born in 1946 and Shania was born in 1965, I think.

I always wondered if it was because of their relationship that Shania stayed so private. Since they received a ton of criticism about the marriage from the beginning, that may have added to her wanting to live out of the country and be virtually hidden until a new album came out. I wonder if we will start seeing a lot more of her once she releases new material (which is apparently happening in '09). I wish her the best, but it would also be nice not to have 5-6 year breaks in between albums/tours! If they don't continue to work together musically, I'm sure Shania will still do fine.

LATEST: Music mogul ROBERT`MUTT' LANGE has spoken out about his split from country star SHANIA TWAIN, revealing the couple was "growing apart."

Lange has filed for divorce from the singer after 15 years of marriage, and in a brief statement, the music producer admits the separation is "unfortunate." He tells People magazine, "It's just an unfortunate thing that's happened...
It's literally just a growing apart, that's all." Reports suggest the split was as much of a shock to Twain as it was for her fans.

A source says, "She's devastated. She's getting through it with a very close-knit group of family and friends." The couple wed in 2003. They have a six-year-old son, called Eja D'angelo.

The Reasons For Shania's Separation

Sources have revealed that an extra-marital relationship was the cause of the sudden breakup between Shania Twain and musical producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, after 14 years of marriage, according to a report from People.

After the announcement of separation, Lange explained that he and his wife had simply grown apart. However, sources close to the couple stated that a third person was involved in the separation.

Twain's husband allegedly had an affair with Marie Ann Thiébaud, the manager and secretary of the couple's Swiss chateau. "Mutt and Marie Ann left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship," affirmed a source.

The producer denies the claims, saying,
"It's absolutely not the reason [for the separation]."

Twain and Lange were married in 1993 and have a 6-year-old son together.
