Not very good, but considering that word got out the show got cancelled...They still managed to grow by more than 1 million viewers over Til' Death.

Take a look at the fast national ratings from 8 to 9 p.m. I gotta say those numbers for Wife swap are :crazy:...what's wrong with people and their viewing choices :crazy:. On the other hand, America's Next Top Model had it's season finale so it doesn't surpprise me they increazed during the last half hour... Oh well:(

Well, I can't argue with you about the quality of the show because everybody is entitled to his opinion. As far as the ratings are concerned they are suffering mainly because BTY is not a 8:30 show. Especially with all talk that it leads to AI and therefore it should get higher ratings. I can hardly imagine parents sitting through "Chuck and Kelly doin' it again" (which was hilarious by the way IMO) with their kids and then to tune in to AI which is a all-family-get-together kind of show. This show would have done better at 9or 9:30 in my opinion!

I agree with you on both counts, Sonia. Last night's "Back to You" finale was a pretty good episode that worked very well as either a series or season finale, although I would have preferred it as the last.

And it's true that kind of raunchy humor and cursing -- "son of a bitch" is relatively tame, but Marsh said it three times -- is probably a turnoff for people who watch "American Idol" family-style.

Even "'Til Death" isn't compatible with "Idol" since it has its fare share of innuendo and adult situations, too.

Note that the mindless entertainment shows are the 2 top ratings grabbers.

I can't say I'm happy with those ratings . . . I was hoping for a lot better. But those are still fast nationals, aren't they? We'll have to see when final ratings come in how exactly it did.

But yeah, you're right about Back to You being a 9pm show. I've said it many times myself. The humor is not what should be seen by kids tuning early into American Idol. If it were at 9:30 instead of 8:30, I'm sure it would be doing a lot better.

Til Death was just horrible last night . . . why the hell is FOX renewing this at all? Even if they are cancelling BTY, Til Death should be going along with it. That show is just horrible! And yeah, it did grow out of Til Death by more than a million viewers . . . that really says a lot about this show, because even if it doesn't manage the best ratings, it does manage good ratings out of an even worse lead-in.

Absent from the schedule is sitcom "Back to You," which Fox cancelled last week. Reilly defended keeping the lower-rated sitcom "Til Death" over the Kelsey Grammar comedy, admitting that cast salaries were a factor.

"With its proximity to 'Idol," the expectations were higher," he said. "The show did not really strike a chord. Creatively, it was a mixed bag. We're looking to find that next generation of comedy hits and it just did not feel like it would fit into that mix."

That's just an excuse. Grammer said that FOX never brought up the salary issue with them, saying that if they had done so they would have agreed to work it out. FOX just didn't want the show, period! The rest is just BS.

The whole article sounds like an excuse to me. If he thinks Til Death is the "next generation of comedy," then he needs to look again. Back to You is the only sitcom this season that could bring back the old format for sitcoms. Til Death is the complete opposite - every episodes has that awkward feel to me.

I also wanted to share this, again about the ratings. I got this from broadcastingcable.com:

So in the demos and in households, the hour was tied with the CW (never thought I'd say that-LOL) for first place. That, and Back to You was ahead in Til Death in total viewers by more than 1 million. I think that says a lot right there.

I know what you mean but America's Next Top Model is a pretty well established franchise and last night was their final episode - hence the growth in the last half hour! Same thing happened with The biggest loser on NBC and if you notice both result shows of Dancing with the Stars and AI have their best rating in the last half hour!

I wish that rating was 10 million. That would've been sooooo damn sweet. We really need to refocus our efforts.

I was hoping for anything near 8 million. Hopefully it'll go up above 7 million in the final ratings, though. That would look a lot better.
