Everything makes sense but I don't understand the game show Sunday at 9. If anything changes, it would be that.

Game Show In My Head is from Ashton Kutcher...he seems to be having so many unscripted series coming.

I personally think they should have Old Christine/Rules Wed 8-9pm, and have Sundays like this because of NFL runovers:

That way, if Tower comes in mid-season it can pair up with Cold Case at 10 and in between Amazing Race cycles, you can squeeze in Worst Week paired up with My Secret Public Journal if it comes in mid-season.

CBS announced today its 2008-2009 Fall Primetime Lineup, featuring five new series - two comedies and three dramas - and the launch of a new comedy block on Wednesdays.

The new series include ELEVENTH HOUR, a dramatic thriller from producer Jerry Bruckheimer about a special advisor to the government who investigates scientific crises and oddities; THE MENTALIST, starring Simon Baker as a former celebrity psychic-turned- detective who uses his gifted skills of observation and expertise at "reading" people to solve crimes; THE EX LIST, a sexy comedic drama about a 30-something woman who searches her past relationships to find her future husband; and the comedies PROJECT GARY, starring Jay Mohr and Paula Marshall as dueling ex-spouses and parents trying to move forward with new relationships; and WORST WEEK about a good guy who is always trying to do the right thing, yet something always goes wrong - especially when he's around his girlfriend's parents.

"We've been looking to expand our comedy lineup, and we now have the depth and development to make the move," said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. "Monday is already television's signature night for comedy and we think we can make the case that CBS is the signature network for comedy overall."

Added Tassler, "Our new dramas put a character twist on the highly successful procedural form with two exciting new leads in Simon Baker and Rufus Sewell. And, rounding out the new slate is a very unique series with a dynamic young actress (Elizabeth Reaser, "Grey's Anatomy") that blends comedy, drama and romance in a concept that will have everybody thinking about their personal 'ex list.' "

The freshman series will join 18 returning programs on the current CBS lineup.

CBS will return network television's Number One drama franchise - CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION; CSI: MIAMI, CSI: NY - the Number One comedy, TWO AND A HALF MEN; the Number One news magazine, 60 MINUTES; and two franchise reality series -SURVIVOR and the five-time Emmy Award-winning THE AMAZING RACE.

The new 2008-2009 schedule is:

On Monday, CBS adds a new comedy to television's top-rated comedy lineup. From 8:00-9:00 PM, the popular young adult comedy block of THE BIG BANG THEORY and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER returns. Television's top comedy TWO AND A HALF MEN remains at 9:00 PM and serves as a lead-in for the new comedy WORST WEEK at 9:30 PM. CSI: MIAMI, the night's top scripted series, returns for its seventh season at 10:00 PM.

On Tuesday, NCIS opens the night at 8:00 PM and the hit drama WITHOUT A TRACE moves to 10:00 PM, creating a hammock position for the new drama THE MENTALIST at 9:00 PM.

On Wednesday, CBS opens a new night of comedy. The critically acclaimed THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE, starring Emmy Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus, starts the night at 8:00 PM, leading into the new comedy PROJECT GARY. The successful tandem of CRIMINAL MINDS and CSI: NY return from 9:00-11:00 PM.

On Thursday, CBS adds a new drama to television's most-watched night. SURVIVOR returns at 8:00 PM, where it continues to dominate its time period, followed by the night's highest-rated show, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, which provides a strong lead-in for the new suspenseful thriller ELEVENTH HOUR at 10:00 PM.

CBS adds a unique new series to its top-rated Friday. GHOST WHISPERER, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, returns at 8:00 PM leading into another female-lead show, THE EX LIST, at 9:00 PM, capped by the night's highest rated scripted series NUMB3RS at 10:00 PM.

Saturdays will feature CBS's CRIMETIME programming from 8:00-10:00 PM, followed by 48 HOURS MYSTERY, the night's top-rated program.

On Sunday, the perennial Number One news magazine, 60 MINUTES, kicks off its 41st season at 7:00 PM, followed by the return of the five-time Emmy Award-winning reality series THE AMAZING RACE at 8:00 PM. The successful crime drama COLD CASE remains at 9:00 PM and the action drama THE UNIT joins the night at 10:00 PM.

In addition to the new series for fall, the network announced the pick up of two programs for midseason. The new drama, HARPER'S ISLAND, is a murder mystery that unfolds as friends and family attend week-long festivities at a destination wedding on a secluded and picturesque island off the coast of Seattle, infamous for a homicidal maniac's rampage seven years ago. Also picked up for midseason is the comedy RULES OF ENGAGEMENT.


The new comedies are:

WORST WEEK is a comedy about Sam Briggs, an entertainment magazine editor who will do anything to please his girlfriend's parents ... but instead becomes a one-man wrecking crew whenever he's around them. Sam (Kyle Bornheimer, "Jericho") and his girlfriend, Melanie Clayton (Erinn Hayes, "Kitchen Confidential"), have only one hurdle left to clear as they start their life together: breaking the news to Mel's conservative parents that they have a wedding in the works and a baby on the way. Dick (Kurtwood Smith, "That '70s Show"), a stern Judge, and his wife Angela (Nancy Lenehan, "My Name is Earl"), are protective of their daughter, and are really trying to let go of the anger they feel toward Sam ... after all, disaster follows whenever he visits their house. But despite his best efforts, every time Sam takes one positive step forward in winning over his future in-laws, he inevitably takes two crushing steps back. But with support and love from Melanie who stands up for him despite his knack for making himself look bad, Sam will hopefully charm his way into her family. Emmy Award winner Adam Bernstein ("30 Rock") directed the pilot. Matt Tarses ("Scrubs") and Jimmy Mulville ("Whose Line Is It Anyway?") are the executive producers for Universal Media Studios and CBS Paramount Network Television.

PROJECT GARY stars Jay Mohr ("Ghost Whisperer") and Paula Marshall ("Nip/Tuck") in a comedy about Gary Barnes, a recently single painting contractor, and his controlling ex-wife, Allison, who face post-divorce mayhem after 15 years of marriage as they each embark on new relationships. He's the fun parent and she's the strict one. Together, they share custody of their two children - Louise (Laura Marano, "Without a Trace"), a politically correct and environmentally conscious 11-year-old, and Tom (Ryan Malgarini, "How to Eat Fried Worms"), their socially awkward 14-year-old son who is nervous around girls. Charming and acerbic, Gary hasn't dated since the split, but finally connects with Vanessa (Jaime King, "The Class"), a single mother whose condo he was hired to paint. He dreads telling Allison about Vanessa because it doesn't adhere to her belief in their marriage counselor's book, "Rules for the Perfect Divorce." However, when Allison tells him that she's engaged to their shrink, all bets are off and Gary decides it's time to move forward. Now, in pursuit of post-marriage happiness, Gary must juggle his eclectic world of an ex-wife, their two kids, their shrink and his gorgeous new girlfriend. Ed Yeager ("Still Standing") and Ric Swartzlander ("8 Simple Rules") are the executive producers for ABC Studios and CBS Paramount Network Television.

Jane's role in cracking a series of tough high-profile cases is greatly valued by his fellow agents. However, no-nonsense Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney, "Prison Break") openly resists having Jane in her unit and alternates between reluctantly acknowledging Jane's usefulness and blasting him for his theatrics, narcissism and dangerous lack of boundaries. Lisbon's team includes agents Kimball Cho (Tim Kang, "Rambo"), Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman, "The Nine"), and rookie member Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti, "The O.C."), who all think Jane's a loose cannon but admire his charm and knack for clearing cases. I would have liked to have seen The Big Bang Theory move back to its 8:30 time slot, because that 8:00 time slot is tough. However, I am really happy the show made it to its seccond season of hopefully many more to come. :)

I know CBS can very, very rough on their shows. I am just very happy that The Big Bang Theory made it for season 2.

It's an interesting safe schedule I guess, as usual don't really have much interest in the new shows.

The Mentalist looks interesting. It stars Simon Baker and I was a big fan of The Guardian. He even has his old timeslot back.

Just what was supposed to be "Game Show in my Head"??

GAME SHOW IN MY HEAD- a new series from executive producers Ashton Kutcher & Jason Goldberg ("Punk'd," "Beauty and the Geek"), is a hidden camera game show in which contestants wear an earpiece as they go about life in the city and are instructed by the host back in the studio to do stunts. If the contestants can perform crazy, outrageous and often embarrassing tasks in public, they can go home with big money. However, if they fail to perform one task, they'll lose all the money they earned thus far and go home empty-handed. It's all about how far the contestants are willing to go to win GAME SHOW IN MY HEAD. Chris Kattan Hosts.

It'll likely air sometime. Maybe later this summer or mid-season next season.

Game Show In My Head is more of a summer show so I think it was the right decision. It will be interesting to see if CBS does indeed pick up Tower and My Secret Public Journal at a later date.

CBS had their hand forced by ABC, because they were threatening to poach the show from CBS if they did not give it a full season order. Rules of Engagement does better, but it is on the bench. CBS did say in their press conference that they may further expand the comedies another hour, so Rules of Engagement will be back at some point.

CBS video clips available at the above site. I just looked at the sitcom clips. I am very skeptical about a single camera (Worst Week) working on CBS, especially Monday nights. It's really hard to tell how a show will be from a 30 second or one minute clip, though. Project Gary (multicamera with Jay Mohr) looked much more like a standard CBS sitcom.

They seem to do very similar numbers following Two and a half Men. Honestly, I'm not really sure either show is strong enough to really lead off at 8PM, but they have now been around for 2 seasons each (at least partial seasons), so they have some sort of built-in audience. Based on the premise for the lead out, Project Gary, Old Christine appears to be more compatible than Rules of Engagement would be. I could easily see Rules of Engagement sliding into the 9:30 Monday slot once again if "Worst Week" does not make it.

CBS today announced dates for the fall premieres of its new and returning series, which include a pre-season debut for SURVIVOR: GABON and the launch of its Thursday and Friday drama series in early October. The Network will introduce the majority of its schedule beginning Monday, Sept. 22, the official start of the 2008-2009 season.

For the seventh consecutive season, SURVIVOR: GABON, the 17th installment of the hit reality series, will debut a week prior to the formal start of the season, returning on Thursday, Sept. 18 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).

CBS's new season rollout officially begins on Monday, Sept. 22 with the second season premiere of THE BIG BANG THEORY (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT), the fourth season debut of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT), the sixth season premiere of television's Number One comedy TWO AND A HALF MEN (9:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT), the debut of new comedy WORST WEEK (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT) and the seventh season premiere of CSI: MIAMI (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), the night's Number One drama.

NCIS begins its sixth season on Tuesday, Sept. 23 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), followed by the new drama THE MENTALIST (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) and the seventh season premiere of WITHOUT A TRACE on its new night (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

CBS premieres its new Wednesday comedy block on Sept. 24 with the fourth season of THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) and new comedy PROJECT GARY (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT), followed by the fourth season of CRIMINAL MINDS (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) and the fifth season premiere of CSI: NY (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

Premiering on Sunday, Sept. 28 is the 41st season of 60 MINUTES, the longest running and highest rated newsmagazine (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT), the 13th edition of multi-Emmy Award winning THE AMAZING RACE (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), the sixth season of COLD CASE (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) and the fourth season premiere of THE UNIT on its new night (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

The Network's top-rated Friday lineup returns on Oct. 3 with the fourth season premiere of GHOST WHISPERER (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), the debut of the new drama THE EX LIST (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), followed by the fifth season premiere of NUMB3RS (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION returns for its ninth season on Thursday, Oct. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), followed by the premiere of freshman drama ELEVENTH HOUR (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

The premieres of the Thursday and Friday night dramas have been scheduled outside of premiere week to accommodate the scheduled presidential debate on Sept. 26 and a vice presidential debate on Oct. 2.

The premiere of CBS's GREATEST AMERICAN DOG, a reality series that pits 12 teams of dogs and owners in a competition that tests owners' skills in handling dogs, won its time period among dogs 1.79-7 years old (18-49 in dog years) and delivered the highest prime time audience among canines since Lassie in 1974, according to the CBS data that hasn't been chewed apart or eaten.

Airing against ABC's catfight comedy "Ugly Betty," GREATEST AMERICAN DOG premiered in first place in dog-patrolled households, canine viewers, upscale purebreds, "Heinz 57" (mutt) adults and the advertiser coveted 1.79-7 years olds.

GREATEST AMERICAN DOG captured cross-breed success, with particularly strength among golden retrievers, beagles, terriers, female poodles ages 3.6-7.7 years old (25-54 in dog years) and the elusive young, male pit bull audience. In contrast, time period competitor "Ugly Betty" captured Siamese cats and tiara-wearing Chihuahuas in the same timeslot. Against NBC's "Last Comic Standing," GREATEST AMERICAN DOG won the entire mammal viewing audience, including dogs, cats, ferrets, skunks and rodents.

GREATEST AMERICAN DOG also dominated the upscale canine audience, placing first with English bulldogs, Akitas, Cavalier King Charles spaniels and Norfolk Terriers

Impressively, GREATEST AMERICAN DOG improved on last year's "Ultimate Frisbee Competition" by +71%.

"Our testing audience with schnauzers in Vegas suggested a high opening number, but this exceeds our wildest expectation," said CBS Research Chief David Poltrack when he saw the preliminary numbers. Poltrack said the number should go even higher in Live Plus 7, factoring in dogs who know how to use their paws to program their DVRs.

Viewers who missed last night's GREATEST AMERICAN DOG premiere can circle the computer three times, sit down and watch the full episode on cbs.com and across the CBS Audience Network.

GREATEST AMERICAN DOG was also quite popular among humans. The show premiered with a time period win in households (6.1/12), viewers (9.46m), adults 25-54 (2.7/09) and adults 18-49 (2.1/08).

GARY UNMARRIED (Pilot Repeat) will air Monday, October 27, 2008 at 9:30pm ET/PT replacing a repeat of Worst Week. CBS comedies are repeats the entire night on Oct. 27.

SURVIVOR: GABON --- EARTH’S LAST EDEN Finale will air on a special night of Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 8:00-10:00pm ET/PT followed by
SURVIVOR: GABON REUNION at 10:00pm ET/PT.

This airing of Gary on Monday has to be a test--if it performs better (at holding 2 and 1/2 men's audience) than Worst Week, CBS could possibly switch the shows. (or CBS will likely ax Worst Week altogether).

It's definitely a test - I think out of the 2 new comedies, Gary has the best chance lasting the entire season. I almost doubt both will get a full season - they have 7 comedies, and 6 slots to air them in, so either one will be put on hiatus or cancelled.

I'm sure Rules of Engagement is chomping at the bit to see WHEN it goes back on and WHERE it will land.

Also Gary has shown momentmum--each week it keeps adding viewers. Worst Week hasn't really done that, sure Dancing w/the Stars is now back to 90 min and Samantha Who? isn't as tough a competitor, but it still is losing a big chunk of the huge lead in Two and a Half Men provides.

Worst Week is by far the better show, but I agree, it is losing too much of its lead-in's numbers. CBS has to be scared since they replaced the repeat airing of Worst Week. That show is not going to repeat well, so maybe CBS will never repeat it.

I am hereing that Worst Week is not doing that well in the ratings.

I like Worst Week better than Gary, but really, neither show has grabbed my attention this season. Both are just good to watch when nothing else is on - they're not appointment TV for me.

Rules of Engagement could pull in 11 million in the Monday at 9:30 slot easy. Worst Week can't even do 10 million. And like you said, Jude, Gary has grown in every single airing this season, a very positive sign. And, it's holding Christine's audience almost entirely, growing in the demo.

If either show is to go, the likely choice would be WW.

So did I - I'm in fact shocked they didn't cancel it sooner. I really don't think it'll be back anytime soon - maybe they'll burn off episodes in the summer? It would probably make a great summer show.

I thought they'd put on The Mentalist repeats, though, maybe to give it some more exposure. It did well when it was repeated before the debate on Friday.

I'm sure repeats will air in the slot until midseason.

Come midseason, though, what I would do is air either air Flashpoint at 9pm, or move Ghost Whisperer to 9pm, and put The Price is Right at 8pm. The entire night would benefit, putting CBS way ahead of everyone else on Fridays.

NCIS is listed for Oct. 31 and Nov. 7. NUMB3RS is listed for Nov. 14. TBD after that.

It's about time Price is Right and Password make a return. MDP should do well on Sundays out of 60 Minutes of the timebeing. And too bad Price is Right couldn't come to Fridays permanently - hopefully if it does well for that episode, which chances are it will, it can come permanently at 8pm. Airing repeats on Fridays instead just takes away from the original programming CBS has always had on Friday nights.

I agree - its really a good show, and Regis gives it his own. IMO, CBS should be airing new episodes of it immediately after Amazing Race ends its season, and place it as filler up until Amazing Race comes back, to see how it does on Sunday nights. I think it would work great out of 60 Minutes.

CBS today announced mid-season schedule changes that include the return of the drama FLASHPOINT, the premiere of the mystery event HARPER'S ISLAND, the debut of the new game show GAME SHOW IN MY HEAD and the returns of the Network's reality hits SURVIVOR and THE AMAZING RACE.

FLASHPOINT, last summer's top original scripted series, premieres Friday, Jan. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).

FLASHPOINT, starring Enrico Colantoni, Hu gh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau, Michael Cram, Sergio Di Zio, Ruth Marshall and Mark Taylor, depicts the emotional journey into the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops in the Strategic Response Unit (inspired by Toronto's Emergency Task Force).

FLASHPOINT is produced by Pink Sky Entertainment in association with CBS Paramount Network Television. Bill Mustos and Anne Marie La Traverse are executive producers.

These sound like great celebrities this cycle for MDP - it'll be interesting to see how well it does on Sundays, and whether or not it can beat Amazing Race in the slot.

If it does well on Sundays, CBS should split it up - only do 1 cycle of Amazing Race in the fall, then MDP for the rest of the season on Sundays.

Maybe even Saturdays would work - if Gameshow in my Head does decent, CBS should try and build a nice gameshow block on Saturdays.

Why doesn't CBS just move Gary to Mondays already? This is the 2nd encore they're airing on Mondays - they obviously want to :lol:

IMO, Christine is really losing out on Wednesdays. Even Gary Unmarried is beating it now. What CBS should do is try out Rules of Engagement in the slot come February, paired up with Gary Unmarried. Then, move Old Christine to Mondays at 9:30 once Worst Week ends.

If CBS does end up cancelling Old Christine at the end of the season (which is likely), I'm sure ABC will have no problem picking it up.

I think CBS should give it the confort of Mondays come February. It always did well on Mondays, but it seems to have lost its audience on Wednesdays. Either that, or they can stick out the bad ratings until the end of the season and just place Rules of Engagement on Mondays.

My point is, Julie (and I do have one--thanks Ellen :lol:), is that Christine is doing better than CBS expected on Wednesdays. That time slot is where CBS sentences shows to die. Look at recent sitcoms, "Out of Practice" and "Courting Alex"--both were getting decent lead out ratings on Mondays, but CBS moved them both to Wednesday and voila--instant death. I think CBS was hoping for the same with Christine and when that didn't happen...:lol: I know ABC is chomping at the bit to pick this one up when CBS axes it.

CBS should not baby Old Christine anymore by giving it that Monday, 9:30 time slot. It had plenty of time to grow there, and establish and audience. By its bad ratings on Wednesdays it has proved that is was simply a function of feeding off its Two and a Half Men lead in, and really never established its own audience. Even though it did okay in that 9:30 time slot it never really did as well as Rules of Engagement did there. It is clearly CBS's weakest sitcom.

I think CBS will leave it on Wednesdays, and let it sink or swim there. CBS needs that 9:30 time slot to launch new shows. 7.2 million viewers last Wednesday when it had no competition against it is awful. If it does not pull up its ratings in the second half of the season CBS should let ABC have it.

Commericials for Rules of Engagement have begun airing on CBS with the tag "coming soon". Something tells me its the end of the road for WW or GU. I don't see Christine being cancelled, at least not until the end of the season. Although not a fan, the show deserves that much. All shows do. As a fan of WW, I know for a fact this is not a show that we'll see around much longer and I'm ok with that. If this was a one season show with a proper send-off, I'd be happy.

If all 3 (WW, GU and Christine) are by chance gone at the end of the year, Wednesday night comedies will be through. Last years' Monday night was my favorite night of television since Monday's with 7th Heaven and Everwood and later on, the short lived Studio 60.

Worst Week will be gone soon, anyway. It only has a 16 episode order, and it already aired 11 episodes. It should be done sometime in February. I think the only thing that needs to be decided is if Gary Unmarried gets the Monday 9:30 time slot, and Rules goes to Wednesday or vice versa. I think that is why CBS is testing Gary on December 29. If it gets good retention from Men I think it gets that time slot after Worst Week is finished.

I think between WW and GU, WW will go first, agreed. It says a lot that WW is barely repeated while GU is getting repeated after CBS's #1 sitcom for at least the 2nd time. I think it's likely going to Monday with ROE on Wednesday, though I also agree, the Wednesday comedies(whatever they are) will struggle against Idol.

The Worst Week repeat last night was terrible, even being 3 days before Christmas. It was the lowest of the comedies, and only held around half of Men's lead-in.

With that being said, if WW, Gary Unmarried, and Christine, I think WW would be the first to go. It has a retention problem - it's ratings look good, but they're really not. But Gary's and Christine's ratings on Wednesday are also not very good.

I still wonder what CBS will do - the easiest thing would be to just air ROE on Mondays, and stick it out with the Wednesday comedies. Or, they could give Gary Mondays, and air ROE with Christine on Wednesdays (which is what I think would be the smartest thing to do). Exaclty my point - I think Christine is safe either way. ABC already said they were interested in it last season, so I'm sure they'd pick it up right away if CBS were to cancel it. And since this will most likely be Jim's last season, and if Scrubs is renewed past this season (which is likely), they'll need another recognizable comedy on their schedule.

Exactly - the AI premiere will be huge, because of curiosity. After that, I see it dropping to last season levels.

Hasn't ABC already announced this as Jim's last season though? They never did that in previous years. Plus, its ratings have been pretty low this season, without much competition.

Old Christine would go great with Samantha Who?. All ABC needs to do is cut DWTS down to an hour instead of an hour and a half. It would be interesting to see Old Christine air on Mondays on ABC next season.

According to Jim taped its series finale last month or so. Lots of guest stars came on. No chance of a 9th season. The set is now gone.

There's been some talk that The Mentalist should move to Sundays next season. Now, I think CBS is finally giving that a try - they're obviously testing it to see how well it can do on a new night at a new time, and if it does well, they can move TM to Sundays, and use Tuesdays at 9pm to launch a new show out of NCIS (which is a huge powerhouse all of a sudden).

Unfortunately, I'd rather see The Mentalist stay in the same slot for awhile. I think NCIS/The Mentalist is CBS's greatest duo, both shows huge ratings hits. I am interested in seeing how it does on Sunday, though.

I don't get the fascination for The Mentalist. It does great in total viewers, yet I know no one personally who watch it (same for NCIS). I know a lot of people too, lol. It skews old though.

I think the AFC Championship game airing is just so that it can draw even more (preferably younger) viewers to its Tuesday slot.

KFMB-8 is airing Paid Programming at 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm PT Time and Cold Case at 10:00 pm PT Time.

I don't get the fascination for The Mentalist. It does great in total viewers, yet I know no one personally who watch it (same for NCIS). I know a lot of people too, lol. It skews old though.

I think the AFC Championship game airing is just so that it can draw even more (preferably younger) viewers to its Tuesday slot.

I'm definitely not a fan of procedurals, but The Mentalist is definitely one of CBS's better ones. It's got this kind of quirkiness to it that the other CBS crime dramas don't have, probably because of Simon Baker. It's grown on me all season.

The Mentalist is becoming one of my favorite shows on TV. And it's in such a good slot at the moment. I only watched NCIS a couple times (both this season), and I can understand why people like it - good acting, good writing, and very entertaining.

Looks like Million Dollar Password is not on CBS' favorites. They have pulled the January 25 airing for a special Cold Case (new episode) at 8pm leading into the Hallmark movie from 9-11pm.

Yeah...Patrick Jane is a good character and Simon does a great job with him. I like the show as a whole, though I've never been too sold on Lisbon, but she seems to be mellowing a little.

Yeah, the show as a whole is great. I agree with you on Lisbon, though - she seems to be mellowing out with Jane, but she's still too cold as a person. I wonder if the writers have any intent for a Jane/Lisbon romance sometime down the road.

I was really enjoying MDP - much better than Amazing Race. it was getting 10 million viewers. And of all networks to call it old-skewing . . . makes no sense to me. I do too. CBS has canceled a few shows that I liked because it skewed old....Shark,....Close to Home. Ratings overall weren't that bad either. I always got alot of flack because I liked Matlock and Diagnosis Murder too. I was much younger when I watched those though. lol

I still can't get over how they cancelled Close to Home - what was it getting, 11-12 million viewers on Friday nights? What a stupid decision that was on CBS's part.

Just to think - shows like Matlock and Diagnosis Murder would have been cancelled after 13 episodes nowadays. I'm sure their viewership ages were very high for the most part, yet still, they're considered some of the day's most popular shows. That's what makes me angry about television today. It's also why viewership is decreasing, and why shows that get 5 million viewers get renewed, whereas a show that got under 15 million viewers just 20 years ago were cancelled.

"The Mentalist" and "NCIS" are very close to be axe !

On the last airing :
"The Mentalist" : 19.62 million but only 5.28 million between 18-49 (27% !)
"NCIS" : 19.10 million but only 5.02 million between 18-49 (26% !)

I don't think today if a show is getting 20 million will be cancelled because of it's poor demo number. Around 10 million with poor demo maybe, but to have 20 million viewers is to be a huge hit this season whatever is your demo !!!

I'll agree with that - no way will NCIS and The Mentalist be getting cancelled, even though their demos are only modest at best. 20 million viewers, especially on CBS where the demo isn't most important, is a bonafide hit nowadays.

But like you said, if a show's getting 10 million, but only a 2.0 demo or under, it'll get the ax. Just look at Women's Murder Club from last season - it was getting like 9 million viewers on a Friday night, but only a 1.8 demo, and ABC cancelled it.

I get what you're saying - today, demos are VERY important, probably most important to network ratings. If you look back at the ratings 20-30 years ago, they didn't matter at all. In fact, they didn't even exist. Networks looked at nothing but total viewer numbers, because that's all that mattered to them. If a show got 20 million it was a hit. But now, if a show gets 20 million and a 3.0 demo, it's not a hit. If a show gets 8 million viewers and a 4.0 demo, it is a hit.

What does CBS have against this show? So it had a low demo - just about every show they have has a rather low demo. Could they be saving it for Saturdays, or even the summer?

Heck CBS didn't even burn off the remaining Power of 10 episodes did they?
Once again, CBS takes a good concept and trashes it. I've been enjoying the Best of Password DVD and would love to see it return in this basic, simple gameplay concept.

So I heard - it was very expected, but now that its official, it just seems sad. Swingtown was a fantastic show, greatly written with emmy-deserving performances by all the actors, but unfortunately, it just didn't catch on in the summer. I have a feeling, though, that with the show being repeated on Bravo, and with the DVD out, more people might have discovered the show through these ways, but I guess CBS didn't feel the same way.

I wonder why they only ordered 1 more episode The Mentalist - should have ordered at least 2 to make it an even 24.

Looks like The Mentalist wasn't so hot after football on Sunday night - CBS really wasted a fantastic episode. For one, it started at like 10:27, which might have lost viewers, but its demo was much higher than it usually is. Still CBS would have been better to air a sitcom at 10:30 - maybe Big Bang Theory or Gary Unmarried, or even Old Christine.

But last night, BBT and HIMYM did very well against tough competition - both shows held their own very well, especially BBT.

Yeah - the slot was only for a half hour in primetime anyway. And I doubt The Mentalist benefited anything by airing - plus, it was a great episodes that was wasted IMO. They could have aired one of the Wednesday comedies in the slot (they could use a boost), or even BBT.

A one-time special edition of the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC will air in primetime on Wednesday, January 28 at 8 PM, ET/PT instead of OLD CHRISTINE. OLD CHRISTINE (r) will air at 8:30pm instead , preempting a repeat of GARY UNMARRIED.

This is the funniest post I've ever seen. CBS will be lucky to beat Knight Rider or whatever low-rated crap NBC has on.

Evening News ratings are unspectacular but CBS is the lowest-rated of the three and CBS News always does terrible in primetime(the convention, debates, election, Inauguration etc.)

I was just saying that because I really do think that The Special Edition of The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric is going to beat America Idlo in the 7:00 pm Hour.

LOL - Katie Couric scares away people instead of bringing them in. Because of her, CBS News has been the lowest rated evening news program by a huge margin since she took the desk. CBS tries hard to promote her, but it doesn't work.

It'll probably do better than a GU repeat, though. It hasn't repeated well on Wednesdays the few times it was repeated.

It'll definitely be a series high for BBT, and CBS's best performance in the hour in a very long time. I'd love to see BBT maintain Men's audience, even build on it (although seemingly unlikely).

I read an article saying that he going to cost the networks about $ 9 million combined on Monday. Needless to say, the networks are not very pleased.

I know. I was looking forward to the new episode of HIMYM on Monday. Oh well, At least they're still airing the new episode of TBBT on Monday though I don't really care for the Charlie Sheen show.

I was also loo0king forward to How I Met Your Mother but I was wondering does Obama plan to speck for the whole Hour.

It looks like CBS is only covering the first half hour of the press conference followed by a How I Met Your Mother repeat, and then a new Two and a Half Men, and a new The Big Bang Theory.

The press conference is slated for approx. 40-60 minutes. So if it is 40 minutes, CBS will join HIMYM encore in progress.

This season, BBT has been a huge help in getting Monday nights started for CBS. The night hasn't been this strong since Raymond went off the year, IMO. BBT is hugely helping with that.

I think once the main 8pm viewers watch the promos, they'll get it. I'm really hoping BBT will be able to match Men's numbers, or at least come close to it.

I don't understand why a press conference has to be in primetime. That should be in the daytime. The one on the 16th will be a brief address on the economy...they could have aired that at 7pm following the 6:30pm news. Better lead-in. The only one that seems a fit for primetime is the one on the 24th, the address to congress. That I would be OK with, but the other two have no business in primetime, especially the press conference airing this Monday.

This season, BBT has been a huge help in getting Monday nights started for CBS. The night hasn't been this strong since Raymond went off the year, IMO. BBT is hugely helping with that.

I think once the main 8pm viewers watch the promos, they'll get it. I'm really hoping BBT will be able to match Men's numbers, or at least come close to it.

I hope you're right, but that would be a very tall order. I can't remember the last time any 9:30 sitcom did more than about 80% of the Men audience.

The only thing that could be worrisome for BBT this week is that out west a repeat will air at 8pm PT. That will confuse some people and they could turn the TV off and not know it is new at 9:30. Other than that, nothing to worry about. If Men does 16-17 million, BBT could see 13 million this week for clearly a series high. Anything under 11 could be a disappointment. 11-13 would be OK, but could be better.

With Old Christine, the thing that comes to mind is what Sony did to FOX to save Til Death - the show's close to syndication, and Sony made FOX a dirt-cheap offer they couldn't refuse. Hopefully to save the show, Warner will make a deal to CBS (or even ABC). I'd still love Christine to end up on ABC. They're trying to make a comedy block, and Christine would be the veteran show they need to get it off the ground.

Rules of Engagement could be in trouble, though, if Surviving Suburbia does well for ABC. Gary Unmarried is definitely in trouble - like you said, it hasn't exactly struck itself as unique, but just another CBS comedy (that's struggling in the ratings).

I hate that the Sweeps is in March this year. Their's too many reruns in February and Obama isn't helping either. CBS shouldn't have thrown that one Mentalist episode away to a Sunday night. I still haven't seen that episode.

Yea I don't like that either. March is a very bad month to have sweeps in. The NCAA Tournament is in that month so alot of shows on CBS won't be on anyway. People who are used to having original shows in February probably wonder whats going on. I wouldn't know about it either if it wasn't for SO.

I guess it seems about 15. Hopefully we'll get a nice solid block without repeats, then - lately, it seems like new episodes are being aired very sporadically, with a lot of repeats mixed in.

I only see The Big Bang Theory moving IF Two and a Half Men will have its last season, next season. That way BBT can take over the Prime 9pm slot.

Otherwise, Moving BBT would hurt the entire 8pm hour, more than likely.

The second they move "Big Bang" is the second that "Mother" sees its final season. On it's own, neither show did great. Together, they are a power team. I say, give Big Bang a 44-48 episode season and air a new episode next year at 8 and 9:30, lol! Just kidding!

If "Big Bang" is moved to 9:30 and "Rules" and "Christine" stays, I see "Rules" moving to Wednesday's to team up with "Christine," How I Met Your Mother starting off CBS Monday's and a new comedy at 8:30.

But in all honesty, the pace of the current monday night line-up is gold! All 3 leading shows are doing great this year, and Rules of Engagement which has always done well is returning to its much deserved 9:30 slot. If "Rules" is renewed, I say keep the schedule the same next year, and don't tamper with something good.

Since things look slim for "Gary" and Worst Week, the only other option I see is dropping Wednesday comedies, and have "Christine" and "Rules" each get a 13-episode order next year. That's if either of the 2 are renewed and if CBS decides not to include any new comedies:

I agree. CBS tried HIMYM twice in the 8:00 anchor slot, and it failed both times. If they move BBT from 8:00 HIMYM falls flat on its face, and brings down the 8:30 show, and the whole 8:00 hour. Really too bad for BBT, because at 9:30 I think it holds about 90% of the Two and a Half Men audience, and becomes a mega hit, but CBS needs it to anchor the 8:00 hour, and most likely will leave it there.

While it would definitely make BBT the same hit that Two and a Half Men is (I can definitely see both shows getting 15 million next season paired up together), but I don't think the time is right. IMO, leave BBT at 8pm. And when CBS decides it's time to end Two and a Half Men, I'd move BBT to 9:30 to air with Men's final season, eventually giving BBT the 9pm slot the season after.

While that may be awhile way, for now leave BBT at 8pm. It's getting 11 million in the slot - why mess with that? It may hold down BBT, but the minute BBT is moved, HIMYM's ratings take a nosedive.

Forget about Worst Week. It is done, dead, finished, complete. It will never run on CBS again. Look how CBS stuck the finale in with a bunch of repeats last Monday, and has not run a single promo for the show in about a month. They have given up on Worst Week. You need to move on, too.
