I saw it today for the first time and wow, I thought it was excellent. Arnold being tied up in the bedroom, that psycho trying to come on to Kimberly then grabbing her and yelling at her and all the while, she couldn't do a thing. I did think the part with Arnold forgetting where the apartment was and using hypnotism to get him to remember was a bit much...when they got into the car, they didn't even walk around so how could Arnold have known the license plate number? Other than that, I think they did a great job. That scene in the darkroom was downright scary.

That whole hypnotism part was a farce. It doesn't happen like that and it isn't so easy, as they made it seem. Damn! seeing this two-parter NOW really makes me laugh. I can't believe how back then it was this eery and scary two-parter.

Even though he was hilarious under his "faux" hypnotism. Like when the detective told him to munch on some popcorn and he does.

The timeline also didn't seem to match up. When Arnold escaped, the kidnapper noticed cause he heard the dumbell fall and (I'm assuming) he would have ran right away to that darkroom. Well by the time Arnold ran down the street to the cop, went to the station, came back to his apartment with the detective, got hypnotized, went BACK to the station to put the license plate number in the system to track down his info, etc., etc., and then they FINALLY got back to the kidnapper's apartment....he STILL was fighting with her in the darkroom? You would think he would know Arnold would be back with the cops soon so he would try and "finish off" and run away.
