You've cracked the puzzle. robyrob 06-12-2008, 10:00 PM my latest email to Time Warner: Hello, I have been having an extreme amount of difficulty with this new update to the cable box that was delivered - completely without warning - this week. My new cable box was finally giving me hassle free TV-viewing, they had just sent me a new box to replace one I had been having troubles with a few months ago, and now they decide to cripple this new box with this update. When I called customer service, they assured me that this update was necessary for the digital transition coming up next February, and that we would just have to get used to the new problems associated with the software updates, but all the information was available online and that there was a comment form that I could use to make any suggestions or comments on your website. Having found no such comment form, and finding the FAQ's completely useless to my situation, I am going to try to address some of my concerns here. As I previously mentioned, my cable box seems very unstable now; constantly freezing and rebooting and displaying strange behaviors that were not present at ALL before the update. I also have many complaints and general comments about how poorly thought out this program update has been for the customers actually forced to try and use it. There seems to have been absolutely no concern given to usability, consistency, or any previous features or constants in the user interface. Why have they removed the timer counter from the progress bar shown when fast forwarding or rewinding? why have they scaled down the progress bar, making it too small to be at all useful when scanning through a program? Why does it need that big empty box surrounding it, needlessly obscuring such a large portion of the screen? why is the Navigator so much slower? it seems to "freeze" for anywhere from one to five seconds anytime ANY button is pressed? why does it freeze or wait when you press any buttons, yet if you press a button a second or third time, it will IMMEDIATELY cancel it out, or take you to the ON DEMAND menu? why does my previously perfectly working box now randomly reboot multiple times a day for no apparent reason? why does it take so much longer for the cable box to reboot with the new update? why have all my series recording priorities been removed? why has the new navigator deleted most of my series recordings? why is it recording random shows that I have not chosen? why is it randomly setting new recordings to start one minute later, and when I manually change it to "one minute earlier", why must i go back and change that setting several times over? (you have no idea how frustrating it is to start a recorded show that has skipped the first minute, because it wouldn't change that setting) why has the ability to adjust the save priority of recorded programs been completely removed? why have they made the program search functions so completely unbearable to use? they took away the "back" button, keyboard wraparound, and made the keyboard so wide it creates too many extra clicks to access it swiftly, and when you want to search for a different show or change your search, you have to start over? why have they changed all of the menu and search screens to have such poorly-conceived layouts that make it impossible to show the same amount of information previously available on-screen, and so much more difficult to navigate? (and its even WORSE in wide-screen) why has the Navigator completely removed the ability to simply press the "C" button from the guide to search for shows by title? this is ridiculous that they have taken away this most basic feature and replaced it with a completely unusable "keyboard" search (that layout is HORRIBLE compared to the old one), that is buried several menus deep? why has the navigator completely removed all functions of the "C" button in favor of several more clicks to get to ANY function? why have they changed simple menu selections of "A" "B" or "C" in favor of forcing the user to press multiple arrow keys to select any option? why have they changed simple messages that would only obscure a small area of the screen into a full-screen blocking menu that provides no additional information, yet takes longer to navigate? (for example when you select a program and it asks you what you want to do, etc. ) why are none of the On Demand channels no longer working? I have tried the "wait awhile and try it again" troubleshooting steps as directed by the Time Warner support staff, but to no avail. Why do none of the online FAQ's address these obvious concerns? Why wasn't more stability testing done on this update before releasing it to the general public? I have very little faith that my questions here will be answered to my satisfaction in a reasonable amount of time. I have been a loyal Time-Warner customer for many years, putting up with many problems, unfair policies and excuses, all while paying a premium for the services that I receive. I may not have much recourse here in this situation, but let me assure you that this has left me a very unhappy customer at this time. suck up on it, roby acct # XXX-XXXXX robyrob 06-12-2008, 10:39 PM dang, I thought of some more things to say to Time Warner - i will have to start a new list. robyrob 06-13-2008, 06:29 PM like, dude - have any of you guys seen that anti-marijuana commercial, where the kid is like in his room smoking some weed, and he slowly gets enveloped into a coccoon of marijuana, then he like bursts out and he's like FIFTY years old or something, and they say like "live above weed" or something? dude, like what a trip man. I've been manually fixing these as I get around to it. Your previous number was 85 posts too LOW - so it got 85 posts added to it. Maddie Briann in the power tool aisle of a McComb Wal-Mart Wednesday afternoon. The labor was supervised by Wal-Mart manager Newt Huckert and some other good folks. "Jamie Lynn was a real trooper," said Huckert. "We offered her some Tylenol to kill the pain, but all she wanted was Mountain Dew." The barefoot star of Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 announced her pregnancy through an article in OK! Magazine and is expected to receive a hefty payday for exclusive photos of the newborn. Maddie Briann's father, 19-year old pipe-layer Casey Aldridge, is currently engaged to marry Spears. The couple's wedding date is currently pending the availability of the McComb Cracker Barrel. "I'm gonna raise the **** out of this baby," said Aldridge. "I'm happy it's a girl. T'were it a boy, I would have named it Bachman Turner, but Maddie Briann is fine by me." Britney Spears and her father, Jamie, flew from Los Angeles to their hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana to celebrate the birth. "I'm already thinking about the baby's future," said grandfather Jamie. "I bought her twenty lottery tickets. All she needs is one winner and she's set for life. I'd say those are good odds."
