is he really british? i thought he sounded american. he has a wierd voice though. speaking of british characters, probably one of the most recognisable in sitcom land is geoffery the butler in the fresh prince of bel air

On some episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies they go stay in a castle in England.

Obviously, Mr. Belvedere - he was deported back to England. And I disagree, Sabatian Cabot on Family Affairs was the ultimate British Gentleman's Gentleman. He often met up with ex-pat nannies and GGs. Married with Children went to England. Maude's housekeeper, Mrs. Nottingham, was British and she often talked about England - in fact her room was decorated with Union Jacks. And I could be wrong but I thought that Raven's mother left the family for training or a job in England.

Also, Newkirk on "HOGANS HEROES", Archies roommate on "ALL IN THE FAMILY" once, when he was in the hospital, Tracy Rattigan on "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" episode "RACY TRACY RATTIGAN"...there's a million of them, too numerous to mention.

i went on imdb and to the jeffersons home page, clicked on his name and in his profile, it said that he was born in new mexico on sep. 17 in 1938. astonishingly enough, he is still alive to this day.

in an interview, he said he was constantly mistaken as an Englishman because of his work on "The Jeffersons" (1975) as Englishman Harry Bentley.
