View Full Version : Cable Stations- Show Airings jasonbigley 05-08-2008, 05:18 PM Is it me, or does it seem that cable stations are getting worse with airing the same shows over and over again? megamanj2004 05-09-2008, 02:35 AM It's not you, jasonbigsley it's all these cable corporation big-wigs. They'll air one show on their channel then shop that same show to another cable channel for more overexposure. Ex's: Home Improvement (on TBS and Nick at Nite, and The N), Law and Order (on USA and on TNT), M*A*S*H (is/was on Hallmark, also on TV Land), Full House (on N@N and also on ABC Family), Family Guy (on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim and on TBS and WGN), Friends (TBS and WGN), etc. I guarantee you any Viacom-owned channel is guaranteed rerun-abuse and/or overexposure. America's Next Top Model (on VH1 and sometimes MTV), Punk'd (MTV and MTV2), etc. Viacom is perhaps the biggest sinner of rerun-abuse and/or overexposure. jasonbigley 05-09-2008, 04:44 PM I am so glad someone agrees with me. I think another reason they are airing the same stuff repeatedly is to try to save money. But it irks me when they say differently because we know the truth. And another thing that makes me STEAM MAD is that these cable companies (Example: Time Warner) are charging a fortune for their subscriptions now. I rarely watch TV anymore. I think in the future, more and more people are going to just buy DVD's. I am sooooooooo sick of these new shows about super rich women sleeping around like leisure activity. I am sick of the "so-called" reality shows. If I had kids, I would never let them watch these new shows. You rarely see shows about struggling middle class families anymore or shows where they cared about each other. Sorry if I went off subject a little. oz615 05-09-2008, 06:27 PM I tell you if it wasn't for the sports,i would've gave up TV years ago. Heather987 05-12-2008, 07:34 AM I agree its not just you that think cable stations are getting worse. I like a few shows that have been rerun numerous times but its getting so hard to continue to want to watch the shows after seeing them so many times. Its even worse when they start airing them in any kind of order with no reason but to mix up the schedule.. Example: N@N is airing Roseanne late nights and they jump over so many episodes to get through the whole run in it seems a week or two week period. Heidi Dawn 05-15-2008, 02:01 PM I can't take all of these airings of the same shows on different networks where I live. I don't watch hardly any TV because of this, I prefer my classic DVD collection anyday. Seems that my cable package only wants to show these shows on different channels all the time (and I don't care for any of these shows): Seinfeld The Nanny Fraiser Everybody Loves Raymond Friends Will & Grace The Simpsons King Of The Hill Family Guy Roseanne Grace Under Fire Married With Children Home Improvement TVFactFan 05-15-2008, 02:32 PM I tell you if it wasn't for the sports,i would've gave up TV years ago. which is why the summer time is so sad for tv watching because after basketball end in june, it's nothing to watch until september. So sports is what really keeps my tv on from september to june Mikado 05-15-2008, 02:46 PM History channel and Discovery are pretty bad for doing this, but, I actually dont mind as it saves me the trouble of taping the shows I missed...I just wait a few days, and see (for instance) the Mythbusters ep i just missed......on the other hand, why do they seem to replay the Mythbusters "Beer cooling" ep about 6 times a month, EVERY month? EVERYONE must have seen it by NOW! |
