I have not watched it for about 2 years, and I just happened to see it today, as I was going by a store and had to take a double take, as I could not believe my eyes, when I saw the character that she has played for many years as nurse Bobbi, what has she done to her lips and mouth, do they not realize how terrible they look after they have whatever it is that she did, it draws more attention to them, so very sad when one does not feel comfortable with one's own self.:confused:

I agree - she looks scary with all that plastic surgery/botox. When are these women (and not just celebrities) going to realize it's just not worth it?? :(

i agree; it is pretty freaky. everytime she comes on during the episode, i can't help but think "why do you need THAT much plastic surgery?!" i know many women don't feel comfortable with how they look and they get plastic surgery done, but it becomes addicting very fast. but she's definitely had a lot of work done and it's not so pretty.

Joan Van Ark is only a couple of months older than my mom (who is also named Joan!), and what a difference in appearance!! My mom may have gray hair and some wrinkles, but at least she can smile without tearing a rotator cuff. My mom may have never had plastic surgery and botox, but to me she's a zillion times prettier than JVA is today. (No offense to JVA, btw.)

Oh, I believe it. Joan looked fine when she was on Y&R, so I wish she would have just let herself age gracefully. Even though she had some work done at that time, it wasn't anything compared to now. Her whole face looks all plastic and over inflated.

It's a shame they have to go such extremes.
