The makers of Sex and The City: The Movie have come under fire from New Yorkers - because they are not premiering the movie in the city.

The film will premiere in London, two weeks before it is unveiled in its spiritual home of New York on May 12.

But the move by producers at New Line Cinema has sparked widespread criticism from those who believe the film should premiere in the city - the home of the award-winning TV series.

However, the company claims its New York premiere will be just as spectacular as the London opening with a huge party at the famous Radio City Music Hall on May 27.

A spokesperson for the film company tells the New York Daily News, "It was simply a question of logistics and scheduling. We're still planning the big premiere to be in New York.

"Everyone knows New York City is the fifth character. The city is the epicenter of all things Sex and the City."

Sigh...London? I don't even recall London in any of the eps. Paris I could understand cause of the last eps. But London?????? IMHO, it really should be in The Big Apple (I heart The Big A!) so much action pulsing all around!

I agree, I think it is a disgrace that it is debuting ANYWHERE besides NYC.

My guess is there is some sort of money exchanging hands here. Nothing like an all expenses paid trip to London to make you move the premiere location.

;)

Very good point, unless the movie has a key scene that takes place in London.

Totally. It's a NEW YORK CITY show (if ever there was one) for heaven's sakes!!

(But I do wish they showed more of the other boroughs besides Manhattan-but that would have been hard to work into the plot I suppose. While its true that Manhattan does seem to be "where the action is" the other boroughs pulsate too and have some beautiful enclaves (ex-Bay Ridge in Brooklyn, Park Slope, Forest Hills in Queens, Glendale-Middle Village quiet but very pretty, etc.) And BTW, if you want to-die-for ice cream go to Hinsch's in Bay Ridge (they make their own) A great place to take kids. And with the astronomical rents in Manhattan, the boroughs are pretty much the options for folks of avg. means
