Any update on this:

"New Hampshire police construct a psychological profile of a serial killer who has fatally stabbed seven women since 1978. Investigators believe that the same killer attacked a pregnant woman at a soda machine, who miraculously survived."

It aired in October 1991 I believe.

From looking at some other posts it looks like they named him "The Valley Killer" and there are a million threads on here about it.

A deceased man named Michael Nicholaou is believed to have been the Valley Killer, but it has yet to be proven (or disproven).

A TV station in my area, FOX 25, did a feature on the unsolved case last year as part of its "New England's Unsolved" segment which is broadcast on the channel's Saturday evening news program.

Im from NH.. and recently answered a thread about Brianna Maitland, the girl who disappeared from Vermont in 04' (possibly linked to Maura Murray who disappeared less than 90mi away in Northern NH, a month previous) There was some speculation that the Valley Killer had come into play in both of these cases. Someone on the other thread brought it to my attention. Makes you wonder if the deceased, Nicholaou, was really the Valley Killer.
So many cover ups, so much lying, so many corrupt ppl can only mask the truth for so long. Eventually... the truth will all come out. Its to bad for the families that the truth hasnt be set forth earlier!

EDIT- 9 years later I firmly believe the two cases are NOT related. I believe Maura was the victim of a violent crime at the hands of someone she knew.

I don't believe the Brianna Maitland and Maura Murray cases are linked to the Connecticut River Valley Killer after reading through the details because of the dates of the Valley Killer being inactive after the botched murder attempt on Jane Boroski in 1988 and the disappearances of Brianna Maitland and Maura Murray in 2004 has too far a gap. The only way I would link all of them is if the killer operated in various states across New England or the Northeast US and maybe even Canada. In two states as tiny as New Hampshire and Vermont with the small populations that inhabit them make me think the Valley Killer either moved somewhere with a larger populace in a nearby state to cover up his next series of murders or may have moved out of the area to a different area of the country entirely.

I wonder what the investigators have to say about why they aren't linking Brianna and Maura's disappearances. And was Michael Nicholaou in the New England area around the time of their disappearances? That could link up with Maura being a nursing student or just be a coincidence.

Was this the case where the 23 year old pregnant girl was stabbed and left for dead, but did survive?

yes, she was left at a parking lot, got her strength up and drove to a friends.....on the way she came up behind the attackers Jeep Cherokee, pulled in the friends drive, then attacker turned around and slowly drove by as the friend helped the victim....

I think police searched like 1200 White Jeeps but did not get a good hit

One of the creepiest, in my opinion, even with the continuity errors mentioned above. I believe it's on Amazon Season 4, Episode 4.

Absolutely. Definitely on my 'Do Not Watch at Night Alone' list.

In the words of that Redwood City arsonist investigator, you'll think about it when you go to bed at night.

Agreed. I watched the original segment broadcast which was ripped from a VHS recording a couple of years ago—it was late at night and I was alone in my apartment, and it really got to me. The reenactments are bone chilling.

What gets me is that in reality, the man started to leave before Jane called out, "What about my window?" due to him smashing it. For some reason, I find that a lot scarier, that he was apparently going to leave her alone until he was set off by her words. Of course, he could have been pretending to leave and hoping to catch her with her guard down, planning to attack no matter what she may have said.

Interesting. Didn't know that happened. In the UM segment he just approached her and dragged her out of the car.

Scariest part is when she is driving on the highway and he is right in front of her. And then he follows her to her friend's house.

It was listed in detail in a book about the murders. Check out page 2 of this thread to see dynoguy's recap:

I also remember watching a VHS recording of this segment years back. The recording had an error in the beginning where RS was narrating over the shot of the police officers in the woods. The pitch of the audio dipped for a second or so. Scared the absolute hell out of me the first time

There’s not a lot of updates in the valley killings I mean outside couple of NH state reps try give the NH cold cases unit extra moneys to look more into it. Every once while the NHSP look like at some new suspect like 3 guys they have look at are Robert Durst,Terrence Peder Rasmussen,Edward Mayrand and John Edward Brewer

I wish they'd solve this one. The segment in which he stabs the pregnant woman is so freaky. It's one of the ones that always stood out to me, even before UM was put up on Amazon Prime. It sticks with you.

If you read the book, it sticks with you even more. Jane's story is terrifying and its easier to sympathize with her even more once you find out what a kindhearted and friendly person she is.

But all the other victims' families still suffer. Over 30 years later, there are no answers for them, no rest, no closure. And you have investigators on these crime shows saying that they don't believe this guy will ever get caught. I believe it was Barbara Agnew's sister who said that you have to prepare yourself that you may never know the answers and that murder is free. It's got to be difficult pulling yourself out of bed every morning knowing these facts.

I wish this guy would get caught.
