There have been reports on some popular scams. Be wary.......

1. A male/female/ model(This guy named John from Nigeria scams Americans out of their money buy chatting them up by email and saying that he is either an aspiring male model to women, or an aspiring female model to men). John/Joanna then says that he/she was kidnapped in Nigeria and needs the American to give $500.00 to John in Nigeria in order for them to be set free. The American gives the money for someone who's not really a model, nor is really kidnapped, wasting 500.00. Bunk! And don't you believe it!

2. A "bank" calling you saying you owe a whole bunch of money. Just give them your social security number, and your case will be checked out(or something like that). DO NOT GIVE them your SS! These are scammers, who will ruin your life with your SS!Bunk! And don't you believe them! It' would be better to just hang up the phone and go to your own bank and let them check out your case for you.

I got an email recently saying that someone was trying to use my credit card. Only problem is that the email said it was from a credit union and I don't belong to a credit union.

OH Nuts!

My understand is banks/credit unions NEVER ask you for such information over the Internet. They would probably ask you to come into a branch to talk to someone.

The Nigerian scams have been around for a while but do mutate and get more sophisticated. Thanks for the heads up!
