Yes I enjoyed watching that one also. Several of the segments (to my knowledge) were never profiled again but they did mention a few updates to some of the stories on later shows. The segment where the psycho grandma abducted her grandson was solved soon after thanks to UM viewers. His mother posted on here a few years back and said he was doing well.

I think the infamous Gilbert Ortiz segment was a part of the live broadcast. That segment most definitely made it to Lifetime, quite a few times in fact. :)

Yes I didn't mean to say that none of them were reaired, just a decent amount. I think we can all agree the on-air reunion one of the childhood friends was aired over and over and over....

What I can't remember though is this - did the Lifetime reruns of the reunion specifically mention or show footage from the live broadcast?

I can't imagine they would since Lifetime never aired this episode.

One of the Gilbert Ortiz segments I have is from Lifetime, and you would have never guessed it was from the Telecenter broadcast.

True. That was kind of it's own segment though. When the friend Becky (sorry if that's not her name, I don't remember) was found, the one lady was actually in the telecenter studio and had a conversation with her friend on the phone while the show was still live on the air. I guess what I'm wondering is did Lifetime show this scene during their update, or was it just footage of the reunion and some generic comments about them being reunited "thanks to calls from viewers"?

Oh good grief do I ever remember that, particularly since the "lost loves" segement, the first full-length segement shown, was solved on the air from Milton W.V. a town about 20 miles west of my hometown.

I can still recall hearing the words of the young actress saying that her father had gotten a new job but "It's in West Virginia". At that point I just a FEELING that something would happen and fast.

I just watched this one for the first time ever. wow! How long did UM actually utilize the telecenter? I do remember the keely shaye smith episodes then I know they went to a mail system? of corse now the studios are all for show...

I think the telecenter was used up until the 2001/2002 reboot of UM on Lifetime. I know Keeley Shaye Smith left and was eventually replaced by Virginia Masden, who was billed as a "co-host" during the late 90's.

Unsolved Mysteries Live was the official name of the broadcast. Maybe one day we will see something like it again.

Watching this episode for the first time. It's causing me to fall asleep. You can tell this is around the time when UM started slowly going downhill.

I thought the Telecenter episode was pretty bad-ass, with Stack turning around to check out the progress just before every commerical break. Just wickedly awesome.

I love the Live From the Telecenter episode. The John Harman segment is probably my favorite.

Dude! This was the heart of "classic UM" (1988-1996 imo), lol! I'm sure you'll get lots of disagreements.

Considering that it was such a success (with both the major and minor cases profiled), I'm surprised they never did more of those over the years. Plus, it was great seeing the telecenter and the Stack man narrating as it happened! If you think about it, in the pre-Facebook/YouTube and even pre-Internet era, a live broadcast of a popular primetime TV show was your best way to reach thousands of people at once.

Yeah, I would consider the Live from the Telecenter episode a success. It seems several of the cases were solved.

I'm guessing the reason they didn't rerun it was because people might have got confused and thought the rerun was live.

That's true. Oh, I actually meant why they didn't do more Telecenter episodes. I'd think those would've been a huge draw.

What's interesting is that, as a kid/young teen in the 90s, I *always* watched UM on Lifetime when they were (fairly recent) reruns. I only ever saw a few of the newest episodes when they were on NBC, so this was a real treat seeing it for the first time a few years ago. :)
