View Full Version : Two Incorrect Titles on Mill Creek Set . . . Anyone Find Others ??
With the anticipation of the new O&H release this summer, I have been pouring over my existing episodes for run times, songs, etc. and noted two incorrect titles on the 100 episode Mill Creek Essential Collection.
I believe one of the titles may have been discussed in a previous thread.
Does anyone know of any other incorrect titles besides these two ?

Wrong: 223: Rick's Dinner Guests 1/21/1959
Correct: 342: Rick, the Host 11/22/1962 run time 22:32

I finally got around to comparing my films today with what is said above, I believe Mill Creek is right when it comes to Rick's Dinner Guest as my film also running 22:32 is titled with that name...the one where he takes his date to an italian restaurant.
Flying Down To Lunch is obviously The T-Shirts, especially since the boys are much younger and the millcreek set is in chronological order and my complete unedited with original commercials film (though mine is in black & white) of Flying Down To Lunch runs 29 minutes and is from the last season.
Just popped in the two shows.
This info from Des Martin's and another episode guide matches, Rick, The Host. Rick is older-looking than in 1959 and the end credits list Gloria as Vicki Trickett.
11.09 [341] Ozzie & Harriet:Rick, the Host 22Nov62 (repeated 23May63)
Guest cast: Vicki Trickett (as Gloria)
Rick has been dating Gloria, a new girl on campus. Problem is, every time they go on a date Rick's fraternity brothers manage to fraternally come along.
Rick the Host - Trouble begins when Rick's fraternity brothers follow him on dates. The Nelsons: Themselves. Gloria: Vicki Trickett. Wally: Skip Young. Ginger: Charlene Salerno. Linda: Jill Boyer. Tony: Don Orlando.

Now, my Rick's Dinner Guest(s) is from film and runs 24:55. It has Tuesday Weld in it. Sort of another series of mishaps. Rick is having her over for dinner. Ozzie is planning a poker party, but has to change plans because he finds out the girls mom & dad are coming, too. Ozzie goes out to pick up a few things for dinner and a man overhears Ozzie's name and introduces himself and adds that his daughter has invited Ozzie's son to his house for dinner tonight. Ozzie assumes that it is a mix-up and that they are all supposed to go to the girls house. The man says, no, just your son, and that he is going bowling and won't be there.
So, Ozzie is off the hook so he can have his poker game at his house and begins planning for the poker party again. When he gets home, he tells Rick that he met the girl's dad and Rick is to go to the girl's home, alone. Rick is confused, but goes over to her house where she is surprised that he came to pick her and her parents up to take them to Rick's house for dinner.
Rick phones Ozzie to tell him that they will be coming for dinner afterall, and Dave walks by ready to go to his girl's place for dinner, so Ozzie figures out it was actually the father of Dave's date that he met. So, Ozzie tells Rick to stall with the girl & her family while Ozzie buys some time to locate Harriet to get the dinner going. Rick drives them around all over town, since they are new to town. The most hilarious thing is that they stop for gas [remember Rick is stalling and buying some time] and he only needs 1 gallon and the price was 35 cents, LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny stuff with Ozzie & friends trying to salvage the turkey [one of the guys made sandwiches with it] that Harriet was planning for the original dinner with the girl and her parents. Joe is sent to the movie theater to find Clara & Harriet and gets engrossed in the movie and forgets what he is there for. Connie Harper plays an usherette. Back home the guys are making salad, spaghetti and ''canned'' sauce and setting the table, arguing about where the knives & forks go. Rick arrives with the girl and her folks, just as Harriet [never missing a beat] walks out of the kitchen with her apron on, and the girl and her parents are none the wiser. The dinner was a hit and the girl's father tells his wife that she must get Harriet's spaghetti sauce recipe as you can not get sauce that good out of a can. The poker party was descretly moved to the basement. Ozzie mentions poker to the girls dad and they both go down and play poker with the guys. As the moms go to the living room to chat.
Ricky sings his guitar-only version of, Never Be Anyone Else, to Tuesday Weld.
Pretty sure this is correct, but really need to know for certain if anyone else can confirm it.
TeeVeeCloset 06-23-2008, 05:12 PM I should have known better than to doubt the experts...I believe you are correct, but I think we have learned a little more about the confusing world of Ozzie and Harriet...lol.....after more research...I have two 16mm films of that episode, one titled "Rick The Host" & one titled "Ricky's Dinner Guest....one running a little over 22 minutes and the other 26 minutes that contains commercials...After viewing them both, they are both "Rick The Host"...these originated from a company in California, which is probably one of the companies that Mill Creek got their public domain films....the film title was written wrong on it, so then the DVD gets mistitled as well. Just like when several DVD releases confused "late & Lost Christmas Gift" episodes. The descriptions you gave for both titles make perfect sense, so I concede happily that you are correct My friend CJ!
honeybea 06-23-2008, 05:52 PM I believe this is the 100 episode set I have that was totally messed up and very few were even watchable. The few episodes I did watch had many wrong titles, but I can't remember all of them. I had all the episodes on it anyway from single "dollar store" dvd's and Walmart bin specials. I bought it to have that many eopisodes in one place, but it was not to be.
TeeVeeCloset, we are all in this together. And, I did pick up on the mistitled Christmas episodes, too. I believe I had the wrong title on both a VHS release and the same incorrect title on a DVD release. It is frustrating to try to sort it out.
Here are some others I know that cause confusion.
The Swami & The Sheik of Araby
Making Wally Study & The Study System
Lending Money to Wally & Rick Makes Loan
Lending Money to Wally & The High Cost of Dating
The High Cost of Dating & The Dating System
Rick's Chemistry Grade & The Professor's Experiment
Rick's Scientific Date & The Professor's Experiment
Harriet's Hairdo & Hairstyle For Harriet
Hidden Panel & The Secret Passage
The Treasurer's Report & The Treasurer's Son
The list goes on and on . . .
Several others have a fishing theme and I still haven't clearly figured out all of those episodes.
Jude The Obscure 06-23-2008, 10:00 PM what about all the ones with golf??
Yep, there are the golf ones, and the bowling ones, and . . . .

Ok let's see if I have these episodes right.
The Swami, I have this down as one I call, Wive's Day Rick's a Swami at the Frat house, and then Ozzie's a swami trying to get this woman who Rick thinks is not the real client but an impossor, to sign something so they can verify her signature. They then come up with a petition saying they are trying to get a holiday called Wive's Day passed, so she will sign. Then the whole thing explodes at the end of the episode and Dave is in charge of this and getting calls from all over the state and politians.
The shiek, I don't think I've ever seen.
Lending Money to Wally, I think this is the one I always call, Wally's Wagon. He starts a little business selling sandwhiches and snacks is a little wagon he pushes around campus. He started making good money, til the Betas started a competing one, and the guys tryo to figure out how to attract customers, which includes Rick singing. Little Miss Tease is one of the songs he sings in that episode.
The professors experiment, is that one the one where Rick signs up to help out a chemistry professor with his experiment, trying to impress some girl. Harriet has some wild dream of Rick turning into a Monkey. Rick ends up helping the professor with his secrect concotion of punch and keeping the punch bowl full for the school dance.
The High Coast of Dating, is that where the Frat makes a deal with the Sorority, to just go on cheap dates so they can save money. And after such a time of the cheap dates, they will take them out to an expensive resturant? Only the guys who were complaining they didn't have money 'cause the dates cost so much, still ended up with no money because they spent all their money on themselves.
Dating System I'm not sure.
What title does the one where the Girls make a deal with the guys that they won't go on any dates unless the guys wear shirts/ties ... they have a list of demands after the guys keep showing up in sweatshirts and jeans. The guys then just say they aren't going out with the girls. So the girls say ok you win. Only there's a catch, they won't dress up either, and they come in their sweats, and hair in curlers, etc..
Making Wally Study, that's the one where Wally is studying all the time, and Rick ends up taking over his dates with Ginger, right?
The study system, isn't that the one where Wally thinks he has this great way to study, hanging upside down?
The Secret Passage, isn't that a last season episode in color, where the boys find a secret passage in the basement of the frat house, they think they are in the Beta's and boobytrap the whole place, only to find out that they are really in Dean Hopkins house.
Harriet's harido, I don't know, I think a Hairstyle for Harriet, is the one where Ozzie says Harriet has had the same hairstyle of years. She contends that she's changed her hair several times over the last few years. She says she is going to get a new hairstyle since Ozzie thinks she's had the same one for so long. Ozzie freaks out when he dreams of Harriet with all sorts of crazy hairstyles. Harriet ends up with her same old hair style saying at the beauy parlor they found that that one suits her best. Ozzie meanwhile comes home with a mohawk.
Is the Treasurer's report the one where Ozzie puts his Treasurer's report of rhte mens club on record so everyone can hear the whole thing, after the club cuts him off from doing his report at the meetings because he takes so long and goes so indept with it. Or they don't tell him about a meeting so he won't be there to give his report. The records are used for all sorts of things, like helping the members fall asleep.
The Treasurer's Son I'm not sure of.
What's the one where the Men's club tries to get Dave and some of the other memebers sons to join the Men's Club. Only the "Boys' take the Men's club motto of helping the community further than the Men's club ever did and get them involved in all sorts of community projects.
OH Nuts! 06-24-2008, 08:37 AM Ay yiy yiy! So many screw ups on titles. I have the mix up of Making Wally Study as the incorrect title for what is actually The Study System. And on an old VHS set I have the mix up of Flying Down To Lunch as the wrong title for The T Shirts. Lord knows how many more mix ups I have. I really am going to have to go thru everything one by one. Maybe I have 2-3 more eps than I know abt bec. of this.
I was so desperate to get more eps that I even bought a 25 ep DVD set where I only got 2 new eps. But someone had pointed out the screw up about Wally studying and I went back and watched and realized it was The Study System. So at least I got 3 new eps from this set.
In fairness, so many titles are similar some of these mistakes are understandable (even if annoying) - Like The Study System and Making Wally Study. But how someone could mix up The T Shirts for Flying Down To Mexico I'll NEVER understand LOL!
I also have Ricky's Dinner Guests as mislabeled for Rick The Host. Wished I had the REAL episode. Who knows??? Maybe I do - hidden under a wrong title. If I find more goof ups in add'n to what's been pointed out I'll give a holler!
(I had always thought that with the mega ep releases that the repeater eps were indeed repeaters so never watched the supposed duplicate version - now I'll go back and try to do a set every few days - really swamped w work right now)
