The bigger question (no pun intended) is why is the older guys (who looked like they were in their mid-20's) pick on little kids,sad and pathetic if you ask me.

The two bullies to me, obviously would have stuck out like sore thumbs amongst all the middle school kids. Why weren't there any teachers supervising the kids at the lunch hour? And I guess the school did not have its own cafeteria?

Not only that, these guys were trespassing. Who would let these obvious big guys on the school grounds? The school staff was not properly stationed.

Seriously, those guys did look like they were 30 years old. Didn't they explain in the episode why they didn't want to eat in the cafeteria?

As for Willis, remember, he was raised in Harlem. I am sure, he wasn't going to let his kid brother be bullied like that.

This could be a good PSA episode for teachers to show their classes on anti-bullying.

On the surface, it seems like totally lazy writing in looking at this two-parter 33 years later, but hard to know what may have gone on - maybe they just didn't have time to flesh out the story and make it more plausible??

I agree about that if they had just sat inside there wouldn't be a plot - similar to how if Beaver just didn't listen every time Larry Mondello told him to do something stupid and didn't do it - there wouldn't be a plot.

But this DS episode in particular - it just seems like if the writers had spent a little more time with it, they could have come up with something a little more plausible - assuming they were trying to get the anti-bullying message across, which I could argue they weren't, as I think an anti-bullying message would be aimed at Arnold & Dudley's peers.

For instance, this being 1982, if the plot was to explore teenagers bullying little kids, maybe would have been more plausible to plot Arnold & Dudley going to the arcade, and getting harassed by older kids to shake them down for quarters. However, then, you could just say they wouldn't have gone to the arcade a second time - so that's where I could see the writers needing to put A&D in a place where they had no choice but to go - school. But then how to make plausible that teenagers would show up on campus and such??

I guess writing sitcoms looks easy but isn't so much.
