My Grandpa (my moms dad) passed away this morning. It's also my parents
23rd wedding anniversary and was supposed to be a happy time...
To top it off he will not be getting a military burial as the closest military cemetery to my step-Grandma's house is filled...the other available cemetery is to far for her to travel to when she wants to visit.
I know my Grandpa was okay with that but it doesn't sit right with me. He was a veteran and I wanted him to have the Military burial that he earned and deserves...all well.

My mom flew to New York last week and at least got to see him one more time.

Anyway, if you could please send some prayers my moms way. This was her daddy and although we've been expecting it for some time...nothing can ever fully prepare you for that phone call.

And if you're Grandpa served in the military, then he had to have been a very great man. He doesn't need a military funeral to recognize that in anyone's eyes.

How ironic...my mom lost her dad on my parent's 12th anniversary. The day's never really been the same since. I feel for your mom; that's not something that's easily forgotten.
