Sandra Gould certainly tried her best, but I didn't like how Gladys became a mean, shrieking shrew after Alice Pearce's passing. :(

Alice Pearce was more annoying in the role, but Gladys Kravits was an annoying character to begin with lol. Thats why she was so good for the show.

Poor Abner lol

Both her and Alice Pierce did a fine job with the role. But I liked Alice Pierce's Gladys more. AP's Gladys was frightened and confused by the goings-on next door; SP's Gladys was mostly malicious, obnoxious, nosy and overbearing.

Nicely put, Rich. That's exactly how I feel. I'm not slighting Sandra Gould as an actress at all, but I just didn't care that much for the character when she played it.

And I sure loved the ep where Gladys gets shot with the "nice gun" from the dog aliens. Bure she sure needed it - maybe a double blast. And what a hoot it was to see her out of character being all lovey-dovey and sickeningly nice to everyone. The joy and entertainment of this series just never fails to astound me.
