Sam asked Diane to came back to Cheers, but she told him no. Then Diane decided to go back to Cheers after she got a sign from God. In the next episode, she is already back at Cheers and probably has been there for a while. I feel cheated that they didn't show when Diane went back to Cheers and met Woody for the first time.
