View Full Version : A parody of itself?

The more I see of Season 7, the more disappointed I'm becoming in Bill Lawrence.

I'm one of the biggest fans of this show that you'll ever meet. I have followed religiously since Season 1, and I know every character inside and out.

But they've basically taken these small parts of their characters, and turned them into the defining characteristics. And made them parodies of themselves.

Dr. Cox... has been ruined. JD... has been ruined. If Elliot tells one more annoying childhood story, I'll throw up. She's ruined.

The only DECENT character left is Kelso... Janitor should go back to being more limited... and Turk is all right sometimes.

Scrubs is a show which, IMO, has clearly run out of gas. Time to end it.

And i HATE admitting that.

But yeah. I'll still watch religiously

Yeah I agree, the first 2 seasons were perfect, I wouldn't change a thing. The third and fourth seasons were really funny too but something still felt a bit 'off'. Season 5 had some great episodes but it also had some that were boring and unimaginative. Season 6 started okay and ended well, but alot of stuff went wrong. The death of Laverne felt so uneccesary and felt like the only reason they did it is to have a dramatic episode. It felt so forced.

Season 7 is not memorable at all. Before the season started, Bill Lawrence said that this season would go back to its original roots and be more down to earth and be more of what fans want to see. I haven't seen it yet. I really thought the show would be good this season but it really isn't so I'm dissapointed.

That is why I have a problem with the likely 18 episode 8th season. My guess is that the writers are out of ideas which is expected and therefore the characters have become caricatures of themselves. I really hope, but doubt, that the series will end strongly. I hope I'm wrong though.

I hate the storyline progression. This is the FINAL season. And they're doing filler episodes with nothing moving forward except Turk learning Spanish.

SPOILER ALERT

What about Kelso being replaced? Where's that going? Silly, I tells ya.

Wow, the 7th season is a bad way to dive into the show. If you like this season you'll probably love the earlier seasons. The storylines were a lot better, not as predictable, and the writers were able to meld comedy and drama in the perfect way.

I agree... especially the 3rd season... it's the peak in terms of blending great story and comedy imo.
