I noticed that too and she wa snowhere in the episode :( What is going on with this show? I think it's a bad idea to replace actresses and eliminate characters without any type of warning.

Exactly, I check up on BTY news everyday and heard nothing about this.

Looks like BTY is getting an extreme makeover, unfortunately. :( I don't mind them replacing Gracie, although the new Gracie looks like she's 5 years younger than the old one, but it pisses me off that they got rid of the Montana character. :mad: And what's the deal with that Margaret character? I hope she's not going to become a regular.

It was great to finally see Marsh's wife though. She cracked me up. :lol: I hope she'll be a recurring character.

I don't mind introducing new characters. I always thought they needed one or two extra characters, but NOT at the expense of Ayda Field.

I noticed that, too. The sarcastic weather girl was my favorite character on
the show. She was funny, pretty. Glad that I'm not the only one who missed
her. I thought she was a very good supporting character.

I guess it's all about adjustments and maybe they feel the Montana character contributed nothing to the show. But i know the first little girl who played Gracie must be heart-broken to be replaced but someone else. I don't think you do that to an girl that young, if anything just ELIMINATE her but not replace her with another giel at her age. That's just mean

They couldn't really eliminate her since she's a big part of the story but I do agree with you about the replacement. We've invested a lot of time getting to know the other actress and it hurts the continuality of the show when they do this. I wonder why she left? I liked her scenes with Kelsey. It just won't have the same effect when they tell her he's her father because we're not used to this new actress.

I really thought Laura Marano was great for the part - a sassy 10 year old. Then they replace her with the other girl, and she seems like she's 5 years old-LOL. I really wanted to see how Gracie would react when she found out that Chuck's her father, but personally, it won't seem righ when that actually happens in the next couple episodes.

And for Montana, she was great on the show! I don't see the need to replace her at all. It probably has to do with budget cuts. I really don't see any other way they would entirely get rid of a great character that was growing on all of us, and bring in a new one (probably for cheaper pay).

I'm looking forward to it. I've been trying to find things on the internet about it and their's nothing.

How could they??? Ayda Field is great and she's the reason i started watching this show. I don't think i'll continue to watch it now. Anyway, looking at last night's ratings i'm not sure it's gonna make it to season 2. Maybe with a big sympathy bonus for Kelsey Grammer... (no, i'm not bitter at all... :lol: )

Excellent! That's one story I can't wait to read.

I don't like it when shows just drop a cast member as if he/she never existed.

IMO, the creators/writers/producers should have worked harder to make this chracter strong from the early development stage.

Cutting a character loose halfway through a season is sloppy work. The could have at least kept her around longer and tried to make things better.

Exactly. And I think Montana added some spice to the show. We all know Kelly is the feisty one, but with her brains and Montana's well, not-brains, there was a nice balance. And from the few private conversations they had when they were hanging out, it seemed like they were becoming real friends. I guess Kelly won't have a girlfriend to tell her troubles to now.

Q: Did "Back To You" eliminate the character of Montana the weather girl? I really liked her character and I hope she will be back. Also, why did they switch the actress who plays Gracie? The new actress seems to be younger than her predecessor.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Obviously many critics of the show didn't like the character of Montana - probably why FOX ruled against her.

They really do need to have a friend for Kelly, or even another women coworker. I don't think the show can stand well with only 1 female adult actress.

Somehow, I think eventually, that female that was bothering Kelly, all episode long will be a semi regular.

I don't think they will replace her per se, perhaps just write her out.

According to someone over at the BTY message board on IMDB, Montana's final appearance will be in the season 1 finale "The New Boss". :cool:


Actress Ayda Field left BACK TO YOU for unexplained reasons. She did, however, come back from the strike for one episode, "The New Boss" (our season 1 finale), where one of the first actions taken by the new boss is to fire Montana. They couldn't air that episode when it BACK TO YOU returned because they had wrapped the Gracie-storyline up in that episode and we hadn't seen that yet. The "Wall of Fame" and rest of the season were filmed weeks after the season finale, where Montana gets fired.

Hope that clears the air for people. At least the character Montana gets an explained and "proper" close to her storyline.
