I just thought all the sitcoms were down last Monday night. Big Bang Theory got a season low, around 7.6 million, and HIMYM was equally as low with just 8 million. Not only that, DWTS on ABC was down by 3 million. Were people just not tuning in on Monday night or what?

Someone might argue with me, but I still think CBS should switch BBT back to 8:30. It was getting way better ratings. Even HIMYM could get more than 8 million at 8pm.

Very simple answer. It is because of daylight savings time and more competition. All the 8:00 shows will be going down as the weather stays nice, and it stays light out longer. Especially the younger skewing shows. Young people do not watch TV that much at 8:00 in the spring.

The second and more important reason is Bones and Deal or No Deal joined the time slot this week and took away viewers from BBT and HIMYM. This week it will probably go down again when Gossip Girl joins the time slot with new episodes.

I looked at last year and around this date HIMYM got only 7.2 million viewers. Don't worry, all the shows go down at 8:00 during this time of year. Just look at it compared to the other shows. It still finished second in the 18-49 demo in its time period.
