I liked Ben Powers alot. In addition to being a pretty decent actor and comedian, he ain't bad to look at either.

Aside from his work on GOOD TIMES, a guest spot on the 2nd season of GIMMIE A BREAK as Nell's ex, and a few supporting roles, he hasn't done much.

I wonder if he's worked behind the scenes at all or if he's left Hollywood behind all together.

Don't know how true it is, but I've heard that Ben was a big time drug addict, which lead to his disappearance from TV. Like I said, I've only heard that--please don't take that as gospel truth.

I did a little bit of research into Ben Powers and it does seem that he left Hollywood in the mid-1980's due to a drug habit -- but that's speculation. There has been nothing to prove this.

His real name is Alton Powers and he currently resides in RI, where he is from. In July 2006 he was arrested on drug-related charges (details unknow). As of May 2007, he was undergoing outpatient treatment for Cancer.

A poster on the IMDB message board, who claimed to be Ben Powers' nephew, wrote a message in March 2007 and confirmed most of this information.

I usually don't trust imdb or wikipedia - some of the stuff that's posted there is pure fiction. If that's all true, do you think that's why he hasn't been involved in any of the GT cast functions (TV Land Awards, etc.)? In any case, I hope that Mr. Powers is well and living a happy life...wherever he is.
