I was wondering how many season's was The Beverly Hillbillies on

9, and it was one of the top 10 rated sitcoms the entire time. I think I read somewhere that it's the only sitcom that went to the top of the ratings when it started; and remained there for its entire run.

The ratings for the last 2 seasons were in the gutter, lol!

That's why I have heard Donna Douglas, Max Baer, Jr. and other cast members act like they were so surprised when the show was cancelled. All they had to do was look at the ratings and take a little closer look at the scripts to see the show was fading.

I didn't think that the ratings were so low that CBS would cancel the show. It has been said that it was canceled due the programming route CBS was taking by pulling all rural programming.

It was on for 9 years and I was so upset when it left. It was one of my favorite shows but CBS didn't want any more country shows.
