Hi all,

I am looking for a giant Capital M to hang on the wall just like Mary had in the show. Can anyone point me at where to get one? Yes I looked on Ebay.

Thanks,
Shameless.

You'll need a large ladder and someone to stand guard, Just make sure it's not open 24 hours. ;)

I don't know if its as big as the "M" Mary had but I've seen wooden letters like that in the craft department at Wal-Mart. They are unfinished and then can be painted.

I'd like one myself because my first name begins with "M". :D

Zoneboy, that was priceless!
I laughed out loud at that one.
Kudos!

I do fondly remember the Mary Tyler Moore "M" at 9 on saturday night, and then at 9:30, the "a" and "z" bookends in the office of Dr. Robert Hartley.

I just bought a giant "E" (since my name starts with E) a few months ago to hang in my first apartment :) It took me forever to find the right kind (to look most like Mary's "M"). I ended up googling "giant wooden letters" or something like that and found a place where you could design a letter by what color, size, type of wood, etc. you want, and you can pay with paypal. (I don't remember where it was - I just tried looking through old e-mails for the confirmation, but couldn't find it.) Also, if your looking for an M, I believe Pottery Barn's website had a big one that looked very much like Mary's. Unfortunately for me, they only have one style of each letter and the "E" was lowercase and rather small. I had wished my name started with "M" then, though, because the M was very nice. I actually briefly thought that maybe the M looked the way it did to mimic Mary's since that one was so famous :)

I just checked the pottery barn website and they are discontinuing the letters it looks like, and the "M" is no longer availabe. You might still try the other option, though. It worked for me!

I love those "a" and "z" bookends, too! Wouldn't mind having a pair like those myself.

Just google large wall letters:

Target and woodcraft stores have them. Also, TJ Max and home good stores. Michael's and arts and craft stores have them in different sizes and in different fonts. You can paint them the way you like it.

Good luck.

i thought about doing the MTM "M" home decor thing with my name, which would be a PGood "P"
but when i was in high school in shop class, i started the semester working on a gun rack and by the time i got done with it it was a BB holder; cutting wood wasn't my thing
so i decided against it and instead just bought seasons 1-4 and look longingly at the MTM "M"

which reminds me...WHERE ARE SEASONS 5, 6, AND 7!!!!!!!!

i can't remember exactly what mary's m looked like on the wall, but the store anthropologie used to sell a lot of metal block letters that were really nice. you should check them out. i'm not even sure if they still sell them as i haven't been to one of their stores in a while, but they did have them for a long time.

:D Since my first name begins with an "M", I also plan on getting a large "M" to hang on my wall one of these days as well.

Kinda funny, because I just redid my room, and I'm mixing the houses of: Rob and Laura Petrie (The Dick Van Dyke Show), Mary Richards, Ann Marie (That Girl), and Rhoda Morgenstern. It looks really cool actually. For one thing that I got to represent Mary, I got a big letter too to represent my name!

At Pat Catan's they are selling off large metal capital letters for $1 (clearance). I wanted to buy one to hang on my wall, but alas, they were out of "M"s.
