What episode do you dislike the most?

I dont' like the one Lucy and Orson Wells, Little Ricky's school pagent, Lucy and the loving cup and some of the real real early ones. Oh and the country club dance. They were running out of ideas by the time they got to the country imo.

And how come in the 50's they didnt' do more holiday episodes?? I would have loved to see them put on a Christmas pagent at the club or something

but thats another topic

But the worst I Love Lucy ep was still a thousand times better than the crap that passes for comedy today.

Here's my least favorites:

"Mertz & Kurtz"
"Drafted"
the Harpo Marx one
"Lucy Visits Cuba"
"The Audition"
Orsen Wells
Bob Hope

"Superman" or any that deal too much with Little Ricky when he was older. I liked him better as an infant/toddler and Mrs. Trumble would just take care of him somewhere.

Lucy loved Ernie because he got her very high ratings every time he appeared with her, it worked on I Love Lucy and then she had him again on her other series as well. Don't forget that his cornpone character later inspired the success of The Beverly Hillbillies which was a top rated show for 9 years on CBS.

I always hated it too, TILL I SAW IT IN COLOR! And the writers wrote that to compete with shows like Peter Pan that played opposite Lucy all the time back then. I was surprised when i read that, it finally explained that lousy premise.

On the contrary, we had a thread (somewhere around here) where we discussed the CLASSIC EPISODES of ILL and stated the candy scene and the Vitameatavegamin scene were just that, CLASSIC SCENES but not classic episodes. A true ILL fan doesn't consider those episodes classic. Usually a person who occassionally watches ILL will consider those to be classic episodes.

I can pick a handful of episodes that are classics to me and they don't include the JOB SWITCHING or the VITAMEATAVEGAMIN episodes. Those episodes are not that hilarious to me. I like an episode that makes me laugh all the way through, not just during one scene.

One thing I don't do, or don't remember at least, is to dream that people familiar to me assume different characters, and I may not even recognize them. That's surely a Hollywood invention; comparable to the type of amnesia in motion pictures, and which Lucy tries to fake. But either invention can be a plot device, though IMO a poor one.

If I have to chose just one I'll say the Charles Boyer ep. It just wasn't believeable or even funny. Matter of fact I hate just about all the Europe eps. I'd rather watch Mertz and Kurtz than Drafted though. I also hate Lucy's Fake Illness and the one where Lucy is an artist while pregnant.

I enjoy seeing the Charles Boyer episode simply to watch the whole deal of how Lucy manipulates the pen she is using to shoot ink out of and the whole jacket tearing which happened to be an old coat of Desi's that they used as a prop.

"Marriage License"-- C-...Lucy goes too far removing Ricky's wallet and forcing him to sleep in the hotel lobby; besides the whole thing being set up on a bogus legal premise

"Scotland"-- C+...sure, it's dumb, but so are charicature drawings, and these are just motion charicatures,; besides, that is a good song&dance company; but why didn't it occur to them to use those swords they danced over to stab the dragon with? (and I think I would prefer enchaladas Ricardo over MacGillucuddy fu yung  )

"Ethel's Home Town"-- B-... while Ethel is out of character with her head all turned, how was she going to cover this thing when her movie never comes out? She just wouldn't take things that far. But the behind-her-back routine is funny...even though it would be virtually impossible for her not to notice quickly what was going on. But would Albuquerque have been that dumb a town? or was the audience coming in droves to her 'solo' performance and roaring supposed to mean they (Albuquerquians) knew this was all a come-on about their hometown celebrity and they were just playing along? It wouldn't seem so, but that might have been (if there were any need) how they made peace again as they continued their trip to Hollywood, instead of Ethel carrying a chip on her shoulder against the other 3 with another -700+ miles to go.

I've posted this before, but several eps talked about in this thread remind of how the different places presented in the show when they traveled were very unflattered by their portrayal. On the auto trip, the stops in Ohio, Tennessee, and New Mexico all made their natives look rather stupid. I've never read anything about it, but I think they probably got plenty of letters, or those dreaded telegrams, cracking them over this. Or maybe it's true that people were less senstive then and could 'laugh at themselves,' and realized no one takes stereotypes too seriously.

Lucy and Harpo Marx...why Lucy insisted on impressing that Caroline Appleby so much... ohno:

Lucy's Italian Movie...the first part on the train was ok though. I just have never liked the grape-stomping part.

Lucy's Bicycle Trip

Lucy and the Loving Cup
Lucy and Superman
Lucy Raises Tulips
Lucy Dedicates a Statue

Not a fan of the last couple seasons as much. Unlike other people mentioned, I loved the first season! Except Drafted. And yes, I like the Scotland ep.

She wanted to repeat the romance of the "first time" with "everything" being the same as it was. I thought this episode was sweet and sentimental. Screw the "bogus" stuff because 99% of what happens in "I Love Lucy" is BOGUS. :happyface This was romantic and we get to see Lucy and Ricky "married". And Lucy in her wedding dress was sweet. Bogus is right. I mean, if one believes that Lucy thinking Ricky is going to murder her is an insane episode, then you expect too much from the ILL show. It is ridiculous on the surface. Just as is the whole Scotland episode...DUMB!! But there are those who like it because it is a musical episode and it gives them a laugh. We all have stated what episodes we like and which ones we don't like, but it is all abt entertainment value, not what is realistic or unrealistic. I don't think the Scotland ep is dumb at all because it's a DREAM that Lucy had while she was visiting the country. All my dreams are pretty dam dumb and unrealistic and that is the entire point of the "Scotland" ep. The writers wanted to play up on the ethnicity of Lucy and Ricky in this ep and they did a great job.
