Let me say I have been a BIG fan and supporter of Big Bang since promos began before it even aired....I found all the episodes pre-strike to be "laugh out loud" hilarious, I even laughed as hard at all the reruns during the strike.....I was afraid that during the strike the cast or writers would lose their momentum and even though I enjoyed the first episode after the strike, it seems to me that every week since then the episodes haven't been as funny, and I'm afraid that this sitcom with a wonderful cast might lose steam quickly by possibily the middle of season 2 or the characters will become too comic bookish as to what happens to many series as they go along, but it usually takes a few years for it to happen....example...the characters in "Married With Children" became cartoon characters by the 5th season or so. Maybe with "Big Bang" the premise is just to one note or it is becoming too unbelievable that this beautiful girl (who really has no friends) would hang out with these guys.....the premise I don't mind but it just seems that the writers lost their mojo since the strike.....I'll wait for the opinions...remember I love the series!

I really wouldn't worry about the show losing any steam. I do agree that the past few episodes haven't been as great as the ones from before the strike, but I'm sure the show will pick up real soon. I just think the writers are now starting to get into their groove as I've noticed that most of the other shows I've watched since the strike ended haven't been too great either.

Just as a side note, that quote was used in the print ads that appeared promoting the series before it began as well.

I wouldn't say it's losing momentum. I would say that the show is becoming very stable, and it's really helping to jumpstart the Monday night lineup post-strike.

I would agree that the episodes are becoming less funny as the show goes on. I only laughed once at last night's episode - when everyone was telling Sheldon to leave-LOL - and maybe once or twice on the other 2 post-strike episodes. I was laughing a lot more before the strike, but it could just be these episodes that don't seem as funny.

One thing I am missing is the Leonard-Penny relationship. There has been no signs of a relationship between the 2 at all lately. I was hoping for something to get that storyline going again, but so far, nothing. Looks like the next episode may involve something with that, though.

I agree. The episode with the little boy that escaped from Korea (please correct me if I'm wrong about the country...) wasn't that funny. Not only was it not funny, but I think it just wasn't a very good episode overall. The weakest episode of the season so far. I loved all the other ones though.

Don't worry Kaley we be in it more this week, and from what I am hearing even more next week. They just gave her a small part in one episode. She will be back in full force in the coming weeks.

I am still upset that The Class was canceled last year. I do love The Big Bang Theory though. I don't hold it responsible as the reason why The Class was canceled. I hold the CBS execs responsible. They should have axed that show Rules Of Engagement instead. ;)

I thought the last episode was pretty funny. Funnier than the last new one before that. But still, the slump for this show continues. It got another series low with just around 7.4 million viewers. This is supposed to be a hit new sitcom this season, yet it go nearly the same thing as Back to You did this week (which got 7.3 million viewers), and that's considered a struggling sitcom.

I think CBS will keep it in this slot for the rest of the season as long as it doesn't go below 7 million viewers. I think next year, we might see our old timeslot back! HIMYM still hasn't been picked up so the slot might be open.

With the way HIMYM has performed it is an absolute slam dunk for renewal. It is just a matter of what time slot. Personally, I like the 8:30 time slot so much better for BBT. I never realized how much higher ratings the 8:30 time slot gets, especially during daylight savings time.

There is also talk that CBS may open up a new night for comedies so it is possible BBT could move to another night.

CBS definitely won't switch slots until next season at the least. I really hope the show stays on Monday nights, just because Monday night has been the home for classic TV shows for more than 30 years.

THey tried opening Wednesday nights up for sitcoms, with King of Queens and Old Christine, which didn't do that hot. If they give up another hur for more sitcoms, it could work out. They'll definitely have to, if they plan on renewing both Old Christine and Rules of Engagement (which they most likely will) and picking up any new sitcoms.

I am disappointed, too, but it might not be as bad as you think. Virtually every show that has come back from the strike is down around 20%. Even megahits like American Idol, Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy have hit series lows since coming back. When you add in that and daylight savings time, and most importantly the time change the drop is not unexpected. Did you know last week Deal or No Deal and Dancing With The Stars both added 2 million viewers from 8:00 to 8:30. That tells us that the 8:00 shows are really getting hit with daylight savings time kicking in. Remember, the hour shows are averaging 8:00 and 8:30, while BBT is only on at 8:00. Look how these two shows added viewers and demo from last week in the second half hour. This illustrates how the 8:00 hour is much lower rated than 8:30. This really shows how the time slot change has hurt the show :

Dancing With the Stars (ABC)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 15.97 million (#1), A18-49: 3.7/11 (#1)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 18.10 million (#1), A18-49: 4.4/11 (#1)

I think the time change has really hurt the show. I bet if it was put back at 8:30 it would be doing fine.

Since I'm the one that started this thread over 3 weeks ago, I'm going to add some more recent thoughts.....btw..I have high hopes for tonights episode titled "The Nerdvana Annihilation" to be funny but in order for the series to go past 2 seasons, I personally now feel the series will be cancelled in mid season 2 if changes are not made by the WRITERS! As previously explained, you can go either two ways in sitcom writing...make the characters more defined or go comic bookish (which they are almost there now, but it could get worse)....again I love the series....but the premise is way too one note.....we know all the characters and they are too defined!, each character needs to get out of the box so to speak....we know one is overly annoying, one doesn't speak to penny, etc......or they need to expand the cast...I'm not saying add a girlfriend to penny, but of course it would be realistic......I'm going to stop here, but for now the premise looked great on paper, but needs to be expanded.....case in point...addams family, monkees, munsters...so many more...great premises but two seasons and they ran out of gas!

Oh, will you stop worrying about season 2, and when the show is going to get canceled. Will you just let us enjoy season 1. CBS gave the show an early renewal, and moved it to the difficult lead off slot for a reason. The show has great potential. I will worry about season 2, and the shows longevity when we get there. :mad:

Since as stated I started the original thread I have a perfect right to try and start and continue some intelligent discussions, I made it perfectly clear in the first post that I am a big fan and supporter of the show, (even before it aired and personally witnessed the pilot being filmed) since I have made my living in the television industry for the past 28 years I know what it takes for a series to survive, do we want potential syndication? YES.....again nothing against you but opinion and discussion is what this forum is all about and the only opinions that should be considered in this discussion thread are the ones that have responded to this thread and many have agreed, so let's also not direct people to other websites.

I have to disagree, besides, it's only the first season, who knows what's to happen in the future, your worrying too much, it's stupid

Am I the only one who feels the show cam back really strong? I feel everyone, the cast, the wrtiers, etc really got it right and it seemed like they were never gone! Tonight's episode in my opinion was one of the strongest yet.

I enjoyed last night's episode ... but I am probably biased because I have been a "comic-book geek" for 50+ years (and always struck out with girls),
so I can totally relate to the characters on this show! :lol:

I thought last night's episode was by far the best yet coming back from the strike. It had everything that the episodes before the strike had, and those were the best. It also seemed to start up the Penny/Leonard relationship again. I hope we see more of that.
