I just picked up a VHS tape of 2 lost episodes at Half Price Books for a dollar. The episodes were when the Kramdens and Nortons decide to pool their money and move into a bigger, nicer apartment and where Ralph finds a baby at the bus station.Great stuff by the way.My question is,How many total lost episodes have been released? Why are the lost episode DVD volumes so expensive? From what I have seen it looks like Amazon sells the volumes for something like 40 bucks apiece for a few episodes.

103 aired as part of The Jackie Gleason Show (1952-1957), however, only 78 were released on VHS, and 76 on DVD...

Thanks Bill.
Are the remaining 25 episodes lost forever?

I think some episodes may appear in private collections or special archive collections like the 1954 version of "Love Letter" did a few years back. Apparently there is a remake from 1955 of "Stand-In For Murder" that was shown at conventions in the 1980s but has not been released .... I imagine it may be in private hands because it should be the complete show while the released version is of course the famous unfinished one. I think other episodes may have been held back because of being to similar to the original performances, any why others (like "Six Months To Live") are held back only the heavens know!!! Just my 2 cents .....
