I was wondering why did they not keep Chuck on Happy Day's

Wasn't it the Explanation, that Fonzie should be like Richie's older Brother.

So the real older Brother had to disappear ???

I wish Chuck was on More episodes of Happy Day's

With the show primarily focusing on Richie and friends, it seemed that there was no room for Chuck. In the final episode, where Howard made a toast to thank viewers, Chuck was not even referred to.

I did not know that there were 2 Chucks

*nods* There were.

And they both appeared at the "30th Anniversary Reunion Show" which (I think) was really really nice http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif

chuck was a weird character though, he didn't have much to him, basketball, girls, an apartment, in the first seasons he was a side platter then got thrown out of the mix..

Yes indeed, Fonzie in effect became the older brother to Richie and Joanie.
Still they could have handled the situation better than they did. They may not have needed Chuck, but an occasional appearance, phone call, letter, etc would have acknowledged the existence of Chuck. One of the most glaring continuity errors in sitcom history!

Ann, are you sure thats chuck? I was thinking he was much taller than that. But then again, I don't remember the second Chuck, that may be him.

Yea that's Chuck. They used to rerun that episode for quite a few Christmas's during the 1970's.

Thanks Iris, thats the one I remember. As much as I liked and watched Happy days, I can't believe I don't remember the second Chuck. I guess he was like the first one, he wasn't on very many episodes. And it's been years since I've seen the show.

No Prob.

For me it was different. When I watched the Show for the very first Time (couple of Years ago) I started with later Seasons...and then...later...watched the first Seasons, and was like "Who is that Guy?"

Now, where I've seen all Seasons (in the Row) I have to confess, I don't care much about Chuck. He was there. Then he was gone. Shrugs...

I have to agree with Iris - Chuck really didn't add anything to the show and served no real purpose. That said, the writers could've given him a real exit instead of pretending he never exsisted. Didn't both Chucks appear on the 2005 reunion special??

Thanks Iris - I must have skipped that post. I still haven't seen that reunion special (I have the 1992 special on tape somewhere). The night it was on, I set the recorder and had it on the wrong channel. Bad me!!

Also in that picture Howard is standing on a chair decorating the tree, so that makes Chuck look shorter too.

The only thing I really remember about Chuck is that he was always dribbling a basketball and raiding the fridge. Can anyone find out exactly how many episodes Chuck was in, and how many episodes each actor who played him appeared in? Thanks.

Gavan O'Herlihy is credited as having appeared in nine episodes while Randolph Roberts appeared in two.

I didn't realize Gavan appeared in 9 episodes. I thought maybe 4 or 5 at the most.
