malcolm gets (caroline in the city)- as richard he was often sarchastic, miserable and depressed and would dress in black, but in real life he is actually quite nice and good natured

becki newton (ugly betty)- she was and is mean, bitchy and would turn any guy's head as amanda; in real life becki is married, as well as being sweet, intelligent and so nice

gary coleman (diff'rent strokes)- cute, lovable and funny as arnold jackson when he was just a kid, as an adult he became a washed up, angry person who hated being known as arnold by many of us, although he only got married earlier this year

Frances Bavier, Aunt Bee from Andy Griffith, was supposedly mean in real life unlike her nice character. I would imagine Monroe from Too Close for Comfort isn't nearly as dumb in real life. Bulldog was a womanizer on Frasier but is gay in real life. And unfortunately Stephen Collins is nothing like the family man pastor with high moral standards he played on 7th Heaven.

Boy that was a surprise. It is shocking to read about the people you think are so moral upright and find they have done something scandalous.

Kim Fields has said herself that she hated her character Regine Hunter on "Living Single." She's absolutely nothing like Regine in real life.

I'm also quite certain that Carl Payne II is not nearly as dumb in real life as his character Cole Brown on "Martin."

Remember the movie Michael Landon Jr. wrote 'Michael Landon, the Father I Knew' ?

Do I believe what his son wrote? Yes, I do.
In my opinion it had to be hard for him to write this about his father but at the same time, I hope it was healing. Michael Landon the person seemed very different than the parts he played on TV. He seemed to move away from his old families (children) when he would remarry and start on a new family.

Remember the episode of Little House when the Circus was in Walnut Grove and the 'Fat Lady' who was Mr. Olson's sister embarrassed him?
In Michael Landon's writing you would assume from this subject matter that he was trying to teach compassion and tolerance but in real life he made remarks to his own daughter when she ate about getting fat. This type of thing has caused severe eating disorders like we saw with Karen Carpenter.

While there were very few negative comments she said Michael Landon was not quite as easy going and benign as he publicly seemed. He periodically had a cruel streak toward crew members and particularly delighted in mimicking a man who had a problem with stuttering.

All in all I know he was human but after his series Little House and Highway to heaven I'm still disappointed to learn he was really nothing like the kind men he portrayed.

I heard on a tv interview that the Greenbush twins who played the little girl on Little House on the Prairie who tumbled down the hill in the opening credits said Michael didn't have much patience with her and her sister. Melissa Gilbert gave the impression Michael was Mr Wonderful with her. The twins had a different opinion.

I saw that Donny and Marie (your my baby, Marie Osmand) talk show with Jean Stapleton and Carrol O'connor and it was interesting how urbane and educated Jean Stapleton was. She also refused to do the "Edith voice". I wish she would have, but that was her right.

Then there is Howard Morris, who played Ernest T. Bass. Morris was Jewish from New York who was an intelligent man who was a movie director, writer and performer. For a Jewish guy from the Bronx, he has the insane redneck act down.

Michael Landon was a Saint. Talking badly about him is heresy. Anyone who talks mess about Michael Landon deserves nothing less that to be beaten by Little Joe Cartwright. Amen.

I read somewhere that when Raymond Bailey was trying to break in to show business, he just kept at it everyday and the same studio people saw this same guy over and over and over and over again and Bailey wouldn't give up until the studio people gave in and let him perform.

I binged watched some Match Game several months ago, and they had Polly Holliday, who played Flo on Alice in the fourth seat (the bottom left). Pollu was the opposite of Flo altogether. Almost shy and uncomfortable, but not in a bad way uncomfortable, much like someone who doesn't "party" around people who do (Brett, Charles Nelson, Richard Dawson). Dawson was flirting with her to try to get her to get into the game.

It was that Holliday hated the day. Actually, I think she probably had a great time. But that was not her scene. She was a serious actress among people who did not take themselves seriously. Flo would have hooked up with Dawson before the first commercial.

On the "Alice" theme, Beth Howland who played Vera was very urbane and educated in real life. The point being, good actors, even serious ones can be silly characters, and that is the mastery of the craft.

David Hyde Pierce was nothing was like Niles on Frasier. During an interview DHP said that if he had met Niles in real life, he would probably get on his nerves and he would want to slap him. LOL. :lol:
