there are a couple of spoilers floating around IDF...dont read if you dont wanna know:

apparently, David A is singing "Angels" by Robbie Williams, Jason is singing something Kat sang (probably either Somewhere Over the Rainbow or I Believe I Can Fly), and David Cook is singing "Innocent" by Our Lady Peace.

What Randy didn't like Michael's version of Dream on. It was great I loved the last note come on Randy get with it

EmoJoe

Michael - pretty good...not his best though. his past 2 performances were much better.

Syehsa did a wonderful job and that high note wow that was good. I really liked it

Michael - I LOVED IT! He's getting so much better.

Syesha - I loved this too. I hate it when people praise Fantasia omg  SHE SOUNDS LIKE MICKEY MOUSE. Therefore, I thought Syesha did soooo much better with this than Fantasia.

Jason - Ahhh!! Absolutely incredible! I'm so glad too ... he's been sucky lately, so he really needed this great performance. I'm so glad he sang that version of the song too, because if it would have been the Judy Garland version it would have been incredibly boring. But yeah, I think this is my favorite performance so far. Definitely his BEST.

EmoJoe
04-08-2008, 08:21 PM
Syesha - she sang this very nicely, but i dont know why you would choose a coronation song -_- i mean really. but she sang it well and did a pretty good job overall.

Jason - this was AMAZING! hes definitely back. his best performance since Halelujah.

04-08-2008, 08:22 PM
I totally agree Syesha did a much better job then Fantasia. But now Jason wow that was great and like Paula said that is my favorite version of that song and I thought it was perfect for him

EmoJoe
04-08-2008, 08:29 PM
Kristy - i thought she did really good! the beginning was a little rough but she really picked it up with the end chorus. i agree with Simon - she's improving. definitely her best yet.

JoPol_wannabe
04-08-2008, 08:30 PM
Kristy- That was a great song for her and she did a great job. I can't believe it she is getting better and better. County music really works for her and she does it well

Krisalicious
04-08-2008, 08:30 PM
Kristy - She did a really good job, but I think it's absolutely her time to go this week. While she's getting better, she's nowhere near the level of any of the other contestants. I would have said perhaps she's been doing better than Jason lately, but he definitely just OWNED on his song, so yeah... I think she's gone this week.

I don't know I wasn't feeling David tonight plus I never heard that song before so that's kind of what I was basing that on. But like Randy said he has done better. This wasn't his best performance

Krisalicious
04-08-2008, 08:37 PM
David - Agree with the judges completely... this was very weak and definitely not as good as any of his other performances

Wow Carly has such a great voice. I liked it

Krisalicious
04-08-2008, 08:43 PM
Carly - I thought she sang it well, but yeah I agree with Simon... she sounded really angry. Not one of her best

EmoJoe
04-08-2008, 08:43 PM
David Cook - not his best. i dont think this song should've had the whole chorus in the background. the whole performance came off as awkward, and it really just didnt work.

Carly - she oversang it. she needs to watch that, this is the second time she's picked a song that she could've done REALLY well with, but it wound up coming off actually really bad, because she just SCREAMED it. i dont think shes going home but, as much as i like her, this was pretty terrible.

OH MY GOODNESS DAVID, WOW. That was my favorite performace of the night so far

EmoJoe
04-08-2008, 08:51 PM
David - this was REALLY REALLY good. i dont think it was his best VOCAL but it was a good performance because of the "emotion". i did like last week better, but i think this was one of his best.

this night sort of sucks so far, lol.

Krisalicious
04-08-2008, 08:52 PM
David A - I liked him better last week, but nevertheless, I LOOOOOVED THIS! The beginning, low parts were kinda ehhh and I feel like he wasn't hitting the notes, but then once he reached the chorus he was absolutely incredible. I love this kid.

Krisalicious

Impressions
04-08-2008, 09:28 PM
1. Michael, the perfect song choice.
2. Syesha, her high notes were a pleasant surprise.
3. Jason, has the perfect voice for that cover of that song.
4. David A., not his BEST performance but that last note was well done.
5. Kristy, her best performance since Proud to be an American.
6. Carly, haven't heard that song before. Easily her worst performance, she just doesn't have that "pure" control of her voice.
7. David C., only thing I enjoyed about his performance was his showmanship and his message at the end.
8. Brooke, it was just kinda a mediocre performance.

Bottom 3:

Brooke, Kristy, Carly

Weird night. To be honest, I thought Jason Castro's performance was just flat out strange. Definitely not my thing, but good for him getting great comments from the judges.

Obviously.. my Daveyboo was the best of the night. <3 I was so happy to hear he picked a good song, and one I was hoping he'd do this year. So YAY DAVEY. Voting right now.

I don't understand why the judges didn't like Syesha much tonight. I thought she was phenomenal . . . Randy was especially harsh on her (he's been getting on my nerves this season). I didn't think Jason did as well as everyone else might think . . . for some reason, I just don't like him, and really want him to go home soon.

FOr the bottom 3 on Thursday, it'll probably be Brooke, Kristy, and Syesha, with Brooke going home. She didn't do too well, IMO, last night, but I'd love to see her stay over Kristy. She's like the female Sanjaya - she deserves to go home, but someone who can actually sing goes home instead.

EmoJoe
04-09-2008, 05:09 PM
how can you say Kristy can't sing after last night? she's boring a lot of the time and one of the weaker ones left, but she can sing one thousand times better then Sanjaya and to say she cant sing is pretty silly, especially after a night where she gave one of the best performances of the night.

She's a great singer, and she did her best performance I can remember, but you gotta think of the 1 strong performance she had, and the 5 or so weak ones she also had. She's been on the verge of going home every week . . . IMO, she deserves to go home more than Brooke or Syesha, considering they almost never gave a weak performance (they weren't all great, but none were ever "weak"). I guess we'll find out tonight!

i agree that Brooke shouldn't go but i think it's Syesha's time. she has a good voice, but she's not unique or interesting IMO, and she has virtually no personality.

1. Michael Johns - I wasn't crazy about the song choice, but he did a good job. I don't think he shined like he did these past two weeks, but he is definitely consistant.

2. Syesha Mercado - Yet again, she had a very good performance. She's so underrated. Julie's right about the judges being hard on her this week. Actually, they've been hard on her for weeks now. BUT I do agree that she doesn't really stand-out in the crowd. Kristy Lee stands out, but for other reasons, LOL. I think Syesha will be going home soon, unfortunately.

3. Jason Castro - It was pretty good. I didn't think it was great though. I agree with Joe that this was his best since Halelujah.

4. Kristy Lee Cook - She was decent this week, but it's time for her to pack her bags. The competition is too strong right now and she's not one of the best, IMO.

5. David Cook - Dreadful.

6. Carly Smithson - Simon was right about this performance coming off as angry. I thought it was very Amanda Overmyer (though not as horrid). I think Carly is great, but I didn't care for this performance. Simon might be right about her being in a bit of trouble after this.

7. Arch - Do I have to even comment? LOL. I wasn't too sure about the beginning - it was kind of pitchy and seemed like he might have been stretching his voice a little. The vocal wasn't the best there. He did make up for a lot of it by the end though. The last verse was great. He's still my #1.

8. Brooke White - My #2. I love Brooke so much, but I didn't feel she made a connection with that song. It just seemed like she *gulp* "phoned it in." Carol King is one of my favorites and that song is one of my all time favorite pop songs, so I probably should have LOVED that performance, but something just didn't work with Brooke this week. She was just OK this week.

Me and you are on the same page with Idol this year. This is really one of the first years I've been watching it regularly. The judges have been tough on Syesha this entire competition. Her last 3 performances were outstanding to me. This week was no different - not a fan of Fantasia at all, but I thought Syesha SANG that song. Like you said, she needs to do something that will make the crowd notice her more. Although, I think she's beginning to build a fanbase. Last week was one of the first she weeks she wasn't in the bottom 3 even when the judges were tough on her. I doubt she'd go from not being in the bottom 3 to going home this week.

You and I on the same page - who knew!? ;)

I'm glad your watching Idol regularly. Even though there hasn't been a memorable "blockbuster" night - so far (IMO), it's still fun to watch. And this is one of, if not THE best season of the show. Hang in there!

The judges have been hard on Syesha for some reason. I understand they want to push the performers to do better and better, but Syesha has gotten better and better every week. I just don't get it. I think your right about her developing more of a fanbase. I expected her to be in the bottom three last week and she wasn't. I don't know now though. For god sakes, if America has kept Kristy Lee there this long, anything's possible!

i thought the first Beatles night was a blockbluster night...aside from poor David forgetting the lyrics, lol.

anyway, i think Syesha's problem is that we've seen the "diva" style so.many.times on this show that people are just sick of it already. i also feel like she doesnt really connect with the songs she sings...i feel like she's putting on a role when shes singing. shes my least favorite left, though i dont dislike her, im kinda neutral on her.

that being said, i really liked her "I Will Always Love You" performance last week. definitely her best one.

For some reason I really couldn't connect with any of the song choices the other night. They didn't seem as inspirational as last year's performances for IGB, this year it was more like "songs with a positive vibe" than "inspirational songs".

Hhhmm, I think your right about the first Beatles night. I didn't care for it too much when I first watched it (it didn't help that I watched it with two friends who were yelling that they were all butchering the poor Beatles' songs). I watched it two more times (LOL) and came to the conclusion that that night was the best night of the season - so far. So yeah, I guess that was a blockbuster night.

I guess we can't have blockbuster night every teusday. This isn't season four, ya know!
