The longer I live the more I realize how lucky I've been to have never had to deal with a life threatening situation. That may not always be the case, and should I encounter such a situation, I'd rather be of some use rather than be in the way or completely helpless.

Funny how I don't know how to use half the things in a standard first-aid kit. Actually, not so funny.

i took an Industrial First Aid course many years ago and maintained my certificate for several years as an on site First Aid attendant, but I've let it slide for the past 5 or 6 years because I haven't needed it.

it CAN come in handy, even just for the basics its worth it. I think that even the most basic First Aid kit should come with a CPR instruction card STANDARD, and it wouldn't hurt to just put a simple first aid manual in there as well.
