I have liked IDoJ for a long time. I would say I like half the episodes in each season. Are the season sets worth buying? Are there only minor edits?
Any help would be welcome.
thanks in advance.

The IDOJ dvd sets are definitely worth buying. I'm not sure what to tell you about the edits because I never saw the original airings, but the picture quality is great and everything seems to be there. Now if Sony would release season 5...

There are those that say there are edits, but I can't say that I've EVER found them. I taped the shows off TV Land and have actually done a few side by side comparisons - and only found ADDITIONS in the DVD's, no subtractions! I also have a few of the shows on commercial VHS, and have compared a couple side by side - those were the same. On the DVD's, you'll hear lines you never heard before if you're only used to syndicated/TV Land version.
One of the biggest differences: on TV Land, in episode 17, Roger blows into Jeannie's bottle ONCE. In both commercial VHS and DVD versions, you'll hear him blow TWICE and say some lines that aren't in the syndicated versions. Same with the TV Land version of "U.F. Ohhhhh Jeannie" vs. the DVD version.
What the DVD's don't have, because they probably don't exist any more, are the commercials where Jeannie does the plug for a postcard contest that they had during the original run of the series, or where Jeannie says, "Brought to you by....(and the product)." Who knows, those could belong to the sponsoring company who may not want to pay to have their product advertised on DVD (because it looks different 40 years later? because it no longer exists in that format?). Copyrights and licensing are not to be messed with!
Buy the DVD's???? You bet you should! I have all 4 sets and am looking forward to the release of the 5th season. I just bought my oldest daughter a set of season 3's for her birthday - keep hoping I'll find season 4 locally for her, too, but so far, no dice.

Thanks all. Next time they enter the sales I might give them a go.
