Just curious .... did Columbia House release MTM in their TV library at one time? If so, how many volumes and does anyone know which shows were made available?

Yes, they did release it, and I believe there were like 10 tapes in the set. I have them all, so if you give me a chance, I can look up what eps. they were.

I have no idea why they put "Chuckles" on the "Out of Work" tape, other than that Chuckles was technically out of work (out of life is more like it! hehe). I guess it really didn't belong on any of the others, and they knew they HAD to put it somewhere. Personally, I'd have put it on "The Trouble With Mary."

Anyway, hope that helps. :) You might be able to get these on Ebay, although I'm sure you won't want all of them b/c a lot of these eps. are already on DVD. I'll prob. sell/give away mine if/when we ever get the whole series on DVD.

Have you noticed if the episode "Ted's Moment of Glory" on your GAMES PEOPLE PLAY tape has the original music? My copy came from FoxNet when they aired the series in 2004/2005 and the quiz show music on that episode has been changed. The music was probably changed because of licensing costs so if the music on your tape is original you may want to hang on to it even if season 6 is ever released on DVD.

Music was replaced on some other episodes too, although it was done subtly and if you didn't see the original you may not notice.

Well, I didn't see any original broadcasts, having only been born in 1982, so I wouldn't know what to compare it to. LOL. But I do recall there being music during the game show, and it sounded like real gameshow music. LOL. BTW, if you're ever looking to sell your uncut tapes (or copies of them), let me know. I'd love to see some of the later eps. uncut, since there are a lot I've only ever seen in N@N/TV Land versions.

OMG, i remember most of the episodes clear as day, but i don't recall the Ted-as-a-possible-game-show-host one!
What a shame that we don't have Seasons 5-7 yet!
It does sound like between these VHS tapes you're talking about, and other people who recorded eps off Nick at Nite or wherever, you could probably piece together a pretty good representation of the last three seasons.
But when is Fox gonna get on the ball????????

I have one that contains 'Chuckles Bites The Dust' and another one called "Mary's Greatest Dates" with 'Lou Dates Mary' and 'Mary Richards Falls in Love.' The covers say original and unedited, but I don't know if that's true because I didn't see the show first run.

Same here. The picture and sound quality leave much to be desired as well. Thank goodness the picture and sound are a lot better on the DVDs. I too want to see Seasons 5-7 released!! I have seen very little of the later seasons, when they used to air in the Cleveland market locally, and on Nick at Nite.

There are also tapes with episodes from the Bob Newhart Show, Rhoda, Lou Grant and WKRP that were also manufactured by MTM enterprises for those of you who didn't know. WKRP's didn't have all the original music.

There's also a "Best of" set that includes 2 eps. from each season. I can post the list for that as well, if anyone is curious. Those are all uncut, too, but there is some duplication w/ the Columbia House tapes.

You're exactly right. I got mine at Wal-Mart, in 1992 or 1993. Those were the days! (My tape was in LP mode.) :lol:

Just going by memory (the tapes are still at my parents' house) I had all of Newhart releases - his 70s and 80s sitcoms - and the first tape of the Rhoda series. The same was true of those, the very first few episodes of the series' from the first seasons.

I got mine at H-E-B, a grocery chain, in Texas. One day I went in and they had a basket full of old tv shows on vhs.

Since I was too lazy to pull my set down off the shelf, I looked it up online, and copied the episode listing from the Amazon listing (http://www.amazon.com/Very-Best-Tyler-Moore-Boxed/dp/0767001303/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=video&qid=1207975786&sr=8-2). It looks like you can get this set really cheap used. Starting at just $17. Might be a good idea for anybody who's dying to see those later eps.
