just wanted some thoughts on that. I thought it was a little strange that she never said that they were friends. dont get me wrong, she had a great interview but its just kinda weird. I also thought it strange when she said that she thought Chelsea handler was prettier than Lisa Whelchel. yeah right! What do you all think?

I think it made sense. Remember, they were around 13-21 years old and I imagine there was a lot of ups and downs with their personalities while they were growing up. Also, they worked long hours together, went to school together, hung out at NBC parties together, did press and photos together, so I understand they could get on each others nerves.

and another thing...they were friends! has anyones seen the wake up texas interview with kim fields? lisa whelchel surprises her by dropping by and they like love each other to death...nancy mckeon and lisa whelchel see each other from time to time and so does charlotte rae and lisa whelchel!!! maybe mindys just jealous or something cause i dont think she really keeps in contact with them that much!

I don't really know why, but I've always kinda felt that Mindy and Lisa had some sort of slight animosity going on. Maybe some episodes (like "Fast Food", "Mind Your Own Business", or even "The First Time" [which, I know, Lisa wasn't in]) made me feel that way. But nevertheless, I believe that they did all like and love each other. They're friends. As simple (and profound) as that. And let's not forget, that that age is a really hard time to get through, so the fact that they were in it together makes that bond somewhat rocky, but ultimately stronger. Just my take. :)

I totally agree with you my friends throughout high school have put me through hell and I've done the same to them and I think its made some of us better friends and that we'll actually keep in touch next year and maybe years to come.

i know what u all mean but it just seemed weird to me. i completely understand that they would have disagreements every once in a while but if you are true friends with someone, you wouldnt talk about them like that. She didnt once say that they were friends, just "friendly". and to tell the world that she thinks Chelsea Handler is prettier than Lisa is quite a smack in the face because LISA is one of the most beautiful people ive ever seen in my life. Sounds like frienemies to me. Its not that i dont like mindy, i just was completely shocked when she talked about the girls she grew up with like that. it was kinda mean. If i worked with the facts girls for almost a decade, i think i woulda died and gone to heaven. better yet, it woulda been heaven on earth literally. So i dunno. just seemed a little suspicious to me.

Yeah, I see what you mean. It's hard to know, though. I try not to scrutinize those kinds of things though because it's not really fair. I too think I would have loved to work on the show with them. And I also think Lisa is one of the most beautiful people ever, but they were different times, and we'll never really know what went on. Maybe she said "friendly" because they still are friends, and to say that they "were" friends would imply something different. I don't know. But, yeah, I see your point. :)

Mindy probably means she's friendly with the other cast members, but she and Kim are the closest to one another.

Mindy has made some of her beefs with Lisa public over the years. From Lisa reading newspapers and magazines while the rest of the cast were practicing lines to not participating in "The First Time" episode. I think Lisa's religious preachy got on Mindy's nerves sometimes.
