The hour shows are essential to the Ricardo-Mertz story, even if they shows aren't the greatest ever produced. Not only that, but you'll miss two of my all time favorite Lucy shows: "The Celebrity Next Door" and "Lucy Makes Room For Danny."

Oy friggin vey, what a question! 13 priceless adventures for the Ricardos and Mertzs with superior guest stars and excellent writing like the rest of the series. Not having it is like having only two thirds of the great product this group brough the world for NINE years. :cool:

I love the hr shows & before this bd never knew they were regarded as Seasons 7-9. IMHO, Go for it.

I"M SO GLAD 7-9 came in the Soup to Nuts set I got.

This is one show where you must have ALL OF LUCY. Some shows you can do without, but not this one.

Neither did I, CBS is the one passing them off as I Love Lucy, to me they were her SECOND series. I guess they sell better this way.

I bought them BUT I do not repeatedly watch them. The other volumes of ILL are more funnier imo.

Neither do I, the writers were getting very tired by then and it shows.

I plan to buy that set soon. I was never a fan of the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour". The shows did not have the same pace or wit as the ILL Series did. I liked them when I was very young where they'd play it on the local NYC stations. But when they reran them on TVLand awhile ago, they didn't appeal to me as much.

But I'm still (and always will be) a diehard ILL fan. I will get the set and watch the episodes just to be loyal and have my complete collection. It is kinda weird to see the same charaters post-ILL. I'm also interested in seeing that color footage of an episode someone in the audience filmed.

As a half hour show, yes. These were originally network hour specials aired under the title "The New Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show", the first year under Ford sponsorship, the rest under the "Desilu Westinghouse Playhouse" banner. Later on, when CBS was looking for summer filler, they redid the opening sans sponsor and redubbed it "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour". Since it is the same characters, it is a continuation of I Love Lucy, and one syndicated package actually edited them into half-hours, redubbed it "We Love Lucy" and aired it with the rest of I Love Lucy series, after the sixth season.
