I get so irritated with AMC and Bravo networks for airing GODFATHER to death. Great movie, one of the greatest of all time, but why oh why do they air this movie (and its sequels) ad nauseum? There are plenty of other great movies in this universe, but that movie seems to always be on the air. It drives me crazy! :crazy:

Another movie that is always on that makes me sick is FORREST GUMP. And it isn't enough this movie gets so much airplay, but the fact the promos and commercials for the airing of this movie make it seem like it is a WORLD PREMIERE when in fact, it too has been played to death for the short time it has existed. :rolleyes:

Oh you're talking about TV? Gosh, it's been so long since i've turned mine on because there is absolutely nothing good on it anymore. I used to love TVLand, until they started overplaying westerns and now they are trying to play reality tv and adding stupid shows that are not even classic (such as "Just Shoot Me").

I also have noticed Forrest Gump playing constantly. The very few times i sit down to watch TV, when i'm channel surfing I always see it. I almost thought there was a Forrest Gump channel.

I'm the same way. Like you, I love the Godfather movies but I only want to see them once a year...maybe. Those movies are long too! I couldn't sit all day to watch them! Does he have the Godfather DVD set?

He has them on VHS. I bought that for him several years ago. He says he needs them on DVD. I told him, "Why? Bravo airs this damn marathon almost every other week!" :mad:

Oh yes, Grease. I have the DVD too and guess what? I have never watched my DVD because that movie is almost always airing on some channel! :crazy:

This isn't really going on right now, but remember a couple years ago when Dirty Dancing was playing all the time? I was having the time of my life when they stopped airing it 24/7!!!

pay cable, but it wasn't that long ago when it seemed like everytime I flipped past HBO or one of it's spinoff stations, The 40 Year Old Virgin was on one of them :lol:

I just love the Godfather. :lol: But you are right. I don't even watch it on tv. I only watch my DVDs and even then I'll only watch it every couple of years. I find that I enjoy movies more when I haven't seen then in a long time. :lol:

I see the Godfather stuff alot but I dont see Grease that much, I'll agree with Fresh Prince but Degrassi is just as bad or worse! Especially on weekends

Let me say, I get those channels, I guess they are free because I no longer get HBO, SHOWTIME, etc. Anyhoo, I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but lately encore has been showing like crazy DIRTY DANCING. Patrick Swayze is battling cancer right now and may die. You make the call. ;)

So for the poster who mentioned that DIRTY DANCING had been played too many times, guess what? They are doing that right now.

I just wanted to add to this post I totally agree and I think Miss Congeniality you know the movie with Sandra Bullock well they overplay that a lot and I have seen The Wedding Planner on a lot of times too. It seems TBS and TNT repeat the same movies a lot on the weekends.

GSN is a culprit of this. With their lousy deal with the Sony library, they can only lease 1 season of a series at a time, and the shows can be played to death. At one point, the same seasons of Jeopardy! and Newlywed Game were played for about 3 years. Also the same 20 or so episodes of Dog Eat Dog have been on the schedule for the past 4 years. Enough already.

Also we can't forget Law & Order.

It seems TBS and TNT repeat the same movies a lot on the weekends.

OMG they do! Same movies every weekend, I want to see something new!

Oh, one more thing. America's Next Top Model, MTV MTV2 or VH1 show a marathon like every weekend, yes I watch them when I see its on but come on! And they really like cycle 5 6 and 7! I dont know how many times I've seen those!

Bravo does seem to show one of The Godfather movies very Friday night. It is a great movie, but really overshown. Back to the Future used to get overshown too.

This was just on WGN about three days ago. It's a classic, but I'd rather have seen The Best of Soul Train.

Also I love Reba, but Lifetime has been running that a little too much lately.

while it's my all time favorite sitcom and I had no problem with it, I think for non-Roseanne fans, there was a period of 2-3 years on N@N/Oxygen where those who disliked the show wanted all prints of all episodes burned

Yeah i can't believe Jerry Springer is still on or Maury. Yeah TNT airs the same movies back to back I don't know why they do that I mean can't the person see the movie the first time it airs they also air three night premiers as well as some other channels.

It isn't hard to understand at all. If you and a guest are getting a free flight and hotel fare to Chicago, that would bring out all kinds of people to the show and pretend they are having an affair or whatever their claim is. :rolleyes: You get two people at home with no morals or lives and they decide, "Hey, I want a free trip to Chicago. Let's call up Jerry Springer and say you are cheating on me; we can make up something."

That show is a farce. It is not real.

Someone on the TVLand boards said High School Reunion was on 27 times in 7 days. :mad: Still Standing is definitely overplayed. If I wanted to I could see six straight episodes of SS on weekdays. other shows that are on too much Will & Grace, The King of Queens, Degrassi, Walker Texas Ranger, Dr. Phil, Two and a Half Men, America's Funniest Home Videos, Scrubs

King of Queens is on two separate channels here and still, it is not enough for me. ;)

C.S.I. on Spike TV-it's a good show, in fact it's my favorite one out of all 3, but do they REALLY need to show a marathon of it every few weeks, when they already show it twice every weeknight?

Law & Order (all versions) seem to dominate TNT, USA, Bravo, NBC, and now CBS is showing it on weekends by me, and sometimes UPN here shows it.

Fresh Prince was dominating N@N until the rotation of the marathons lately, TBS

Americas Next Top Model - VH1 (when they arent showing the weekly episodes of their Sunday line up reality over and over) and MTV

Home Improvement - Between TBS and N@N I have seen all episodes within about 2 weeks it seems

Seems if one channel gets one of these shows they dominate the channel for "years".

Movies:
Anything that TNT, TBS or USA aquires will get shown repeatedly.
Matrix, Grease, Any J. Lo Movie (Wedding Planner, Enough), Godfather movies

Watch LMN for one month and you will see the same movies being shown within the next month or two at least 2 times as well. Think I have seen the same made for TV movies repeatedly on that channel (lots of them with the 90210 cast members and Mellisa Gilbert are shown over and over).

Whether it's on a regular basis or in marathons, GSN has reran the same dog-gone 1986-87 season of The $100K Pyramid for almost 4 years now.

George Lopez and The Fresh Prince: Never quite understood how Lopez belongs on N@N. Fresh Prince, I used to love this show as a young teen, but the constant marathons is driving me insane.

Rock of Love, The Flavor of Love, and America's Next Top Model marathons: Give me a break Vh1, enough of these cheap reality shows. Don't get me started on ANTM. It doesn't belong on VH1.

Saved by the Bell on the N network: Again, another show I used to love but now don't. Hey N network, what happened to Instant Star, South of Nowhere, and About a Girl?

I never understood why VH1 and other cable stations choose to air Showgirls. The whole movie was too hot for TV, the whole movie needed to censored. If i'm going to watch an rated R or NC-17 movie, I shure as hell won't catch it on cable. I want to see the whole movie, not the censored version.
