She didn't have a car and when Willis asked her how much she had in her savings account she said-

"$37.44"??????????-lol

why would she only have $37 in her account?-lol What else did she have to buy besides clothes and a little food??? We know she didn't have no RENT to pay.

Even the food cost was debatable--didn't she eat out of what she fixed for the Jeffersons?

I also recall her mentioning that she was helping out a nephew with school costs, though?

Even so......Florence was making better than what most of us prolly do

I am sure Florence had no job or an even worse job before she became the Jeffersons maid.

That is why she was a maid, she had no education and knew nothing else.

She did pay for a nephew's expenses as mentioned above. I wonder where she lived before she became the Jefferson's maid? I assume where ever she worked as a maid, she lived there?

Well, when she first started working for The Jeffersons, she had her own small apartment, but then it was condemned, which is how she ended up living with The Jeffersons; Since Lionel was married and living elsewhere, there was room.

So, if she had paid rent before, and had no rent now, there was no reason for her to NOT have money in the bank. She should have at least $200 a month from never paying rent.

Exactly, no one her age should have never had just $37 in her savings account-lol

I'm sure that The Jefferson’s were taking money out of her pay check each week for living expenses (you can't live anywhere for free.)

She should've had a lot of money saved up, but maybe she was sending money back home to her family.

Lionel was still living there when Florence became the maid.

When she became the live-in maid?

When I was young, we had a live-in housekeeper. She didn't have to pay for her room and board because we treat her like family. Florence was just like family to the Jeffersons. Also the Jeffersons had the advantage of having someone living there to tend to the apartment and other needs such as cooking. That is how it was with our live-in housekeeper. It was to our advantage to have her there since she also took care of my nephew who was very young. It balanced out, she got free room and board and we had someone we could rely on to take care of nephew, cooking, laundry, etc. Still, I had chores to do.

Jude, Lionel moved out in season 3, and then that's when Florence moved in. Lionel was not living there when Florence was the live in maid

ok, but George&Weezy made it seem like she had started living there while Lionel was still at home. I didn't think that was the case.

Not only that, it didn't seem Florence spent much money on clothing or things for herself, which I figure would mean she was partly saving money while sending it to family (her nephew) and probably donating some to her local church. It wasn't until the later seasons we seen Florence have a better wardrobe.

OH Nuts!

She was giving all her money to "crooked" peachers and record producers
