View Full Version : CBS Daytime reruns
Jude The Obscure 03-29-2008, 10:53 PM Anybody else here old enough to remember when AITF was reran as part of the CBS Daytime lineup?
I kinda miss the days when the network would rerun sitcoms as part of their daytime lineup, esp if a game show had underperformed in a time slot. They would cancel the game show and throw in a sitcom until they thought another game show could do better.
snl 70s show fan 03-30-2008, 12:47 AM i remember them from when i was a kid in fact those reruns are the first time i ever watched all in the family after i discovered them was when i started watching the show in prime time
Ireneparalegal 03-30-2008, 01:05 AM I do. I remember when Brady Bunch would air at 10 a.m. on our ABC channel. It later picked up Three's Company and The Love Boat. Seeing shows in syndication IN THE AFTERNOON was the norm back then. ;)
Scoobiedoo30 03-30-2008, 01:05 AM I did not know that All in The Family was on CBS Daytime line up what did All in The Family reruns replay on the CBS Daytime schedule

I can't remember exactly. I wonder if Jude would know the details. But this was normal back in the olden days. The networks would air their shows as reruns in the daytime.
Mr. Television 03-30-2008, 01:10 AM I remember it . I think it aired in the afternoon. I used to watch reruns when I came home from school.
Scoobiedoo30 03-30-2008, 01:12 AM I bet All in The Family had a great Time Slot on CBS Schedule.

You mean in the afternoon?
Scoobiedoo30 03-30-2008, 01:16 AM by the way what year did this take place
Ireneparalegal 03-30-2008, 01:23 AM I can't remember what year or what time it aired on CBS' afternoon schedule. Maybe someone can find out. Remember though, it would be on at different times depending on where you lived. Different areas show programming at different times in different parts of the country.
Sorry, I hope that is not confusing.
Mr. Television 03-30-2008, 01:25 AM It was in the 1970's but I honestly can't remember the time. I know MASH and ODAAT aired back then too in the daytime.
Jude The Obscure 03-30-2008, 01:52 AM I can't say for sure what year it was but I'm guessing around 1974 or 1975. I remember it playing in my area around 1:30 pm central (at a time when soaps were still at 30 minutes and the CBS schedule had room for either game shows or sitcom reruns)
I also remember M*A*S*H, Alice and The Jeffersons on CBS Daytime.
ABC started playing Happy Days in reruns after on two seasons on the air!
NBC did likewise for Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life.
Scoobiedoo30 03-30-2008, 01:59 AM I was only 2 when All in The Family aired on CBS

Those were the days. In 1974 I was 9. I loved watching reruns of shows that were still fairly new. It was a great time then. Later on I remember watching shows all the time that are now a rarity like ALICE, ONE DAY AT A TIME, FAMILY AFFAIR, and of course the stuff that continued to air constantly like GILLIGANS ISLAND, BRADY BUNCH, I LOVE LUCY, GET SMART, TWILIGHT ZONE, etc.
I love and miss those days.
Not only that but infomercials and paid programming DID NOT EXIST!
Jude The Obscure 03-30-2008, 04:01 PM I remember in 1977 when CBS added reruns of Here's Lucy to the daytime schedule--what a treat because that was the Lucy I was raised on!
I think the last sitcoms to get the daytime rerun treatment was Designing Women on CBS and Full House on NBC (yea, NBC!!).

Yeah, I remember that. It was just more Lucy for me to enjoy. :jig: Back in the 70's, there were lots of reruns of shows from the 50's & 60's, since those eras were less than 10-20 years old. I dare you to find a channel that airs the kind of reruns we saw back in the 70's. ;)
And mind you, we only had what, 9 actual channels!!!! Nowadays, there are over 100 channels and we get CRAP!
snl 70s show fan 03-30-2008, 06:00 PM the the cbs sdaytime reruns aired from december 1975 until september of 1979

We had maybe 5 at the most.....two of them were NBC and there was no PBS for us at the time (not until 1982). And no independents (not until 1980).
Amazingly though there was plenty of stuff to watch!
shipoopi 04-02-2008, 10:01 PM I remember those reruns and I also have fond memories of CBS running the b/w eps of "Lucy Show", "Beverly Hillbillies", and "Petticoat Junction" during the morning hours. At least they were on our CBS station maybe not exactly on nationally at that time.
I also remember "Concentration" on NBC, "Let's Make a Deal", "The Newlywed Game", "The Dating Game" on ABC. How about when "The Price is Right" and "Match Game" were paired up in the afternoon on CBS?

Exactly! I posted that on a few other threads. We barely had channels back then but there sure as hell was always something good on. Talk abt having a channel that aired classic sitcoms or dramas...well, back then most channels were just that! I can make a list of the shows I remember watching but I know I'd be leaving stuff out:
THE AVENGERS (on Sundays)
BATMAN (weekdays)
THAT GIRL
PETTICOAT JUNCTION
GOMER PYLE
MONKEES
MY THREE SONS
F TROOP
FLYING NUN
GIDGET
ALL IN THE FAMILY
ONE DAY AT A TIME
BRADY BUNCH
I LOVE LUCY
GET SMART
GREEN ACRES
BEWITCHED
THE OUTER LIMITS
GILLIGAN'S ISLAND
THE MUNSTERS
And that is just 60's shows, not to mention the early 70's shows and the current ones at that time that were being rerunned. What memories. ;)

I'm sure as heck am enjoying those Price is Right DVDs!:)
Would love to see Tattletales come to DVD. Caught some on Youtube, though.
treky 04-03-2008, 02:32 AM yea, those were the days, allright! I rememember when CBS used to show reruns of "THE JEFFERSONS" and "ALICE" in the early 80; weekdays at 10 and 10:30 am (all these times are eastern time zone) and in the 70s, they showed "ALL IN THE FAMILY" first at 3:30 pm, then they moved it to, I think it was 10:00 am (they later replaced it with "THE JEFFERSONS" I think) and "ONE DAY AT A TIME" at 3:30 pm, then they switched it to 12:30 and put "MASH" reruns at 3:30, and at 11:30 on, I think, thursday nights-this was the early 80s and ABC showed reruns of "HAPPY DAYS" and "LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY" weekdays at 11 and 11:30 am in the 70s-early 80s. Also in the 70s, before they started rerunning "LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY" they showed reruns of "THE BRADY BUNCH" at 11:30. And in the 60, they would rerun "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" weekday mornings at 10, "THE LUCY SHOW" at 10:30, then "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" at 11 (they called it "ANDY OF MAYBERRY", since it was still running in primetime) and "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" at 11:30.
And ABC at the same time, showed "BEWITCHED" at 10:30 and "THAT GIRL" at 11.
Jude The Obscure 04-03-2008, 02:35 AM And Dick Van Dyke was reran under the title "The Dick Van Dyke Daytime Show" :)
Scoobiedoo30 04-03-2008, 12:28 PM I was wondering How Long was All in The Family on The CBS Daytime Line up at 1:30 pm Central Time.
KurtfromPitts 04-04-2008, 02:00 PM I remember when I Love Lucy, The Real McCoys [retitled The McCoys], and Pete And Gladys aired on CBS daytime back around '63-'64. Also Dennis The Menace was on NBC Saturday Morning from '63-'65 [even though it was a CBS show in first run].
Ireneparalegal 04-04-2008, 03:10 PM I was wondering How Long was All in The Family on The CBS Daytime Line up at 1:30 pm Central Time.
