I've actually been enjoying my Price DVD. I found mine for $24.99 at Best Buy ($39.99 SRP is pretty high, though). I agree, though, the variety factor in this set is bad. We get 4 Cullen episodes, which is nice, but rather dull, 4 episodes from Barker's first week, then some episodes spread out through his next 3 seasons, and his last 5 episodes from the '06-07 season. I'd much rather see the 60 minute episodes from the late 70's, 80's, and 90's than the half-hour episodes we got. And I can't believe they actually skipped 2 decades worth of episodes. Let's just hope we get another Price DVD with some of those episodes on it.

Thankyou for ranting about ION. I was actually hoping you would, because their new schedule is an absolute disgrace. It's a jumble of shows thrown together in a mess. I seriously hope their new schedule completely bombs for them.

As far as the TPiR DVD goes... I agree with many fans who say that all of the final week should not have been included, but that's not stopping me from buying the set. I'll get it for the Cullen shows, and it's extremely hard these days to find episodes from the 1970's with perfect picture and sound quality, especially with the production slates and ticket and consolation plugs left in.

You should check Oxygen's listings in the overnight sometime next week or the week after if you want to see the Tyra episode you missed. They air the show then and they are usually about a week behind.

My biggest problem with ION acquiring the shows they have for 5-8 pm is that they've aired elsewhere for years and already have exposure and don't need anymore. The Steve Harvey Show, which I love, has been in reruns pretty much since its cancellation, and in many areas already comes on locally if not on TBS; here it's on for a whole hour already. I don't care for the Wayans Bros., and that's another show that's also been in repeats for the longest time. I love O'Hurley Feud but that's already on for an hour a day in most places in local first-run syndication on a daily basis. GSN is also going to start airing it in May. That's a bit too much if you ask me. I really don't need another hour of that. Family Feud comes on more than enough IMO.

I wish more networks would pick up some fresh shows that haven't been seen in a while, you know, go through the vaults and dust something off. That's one reason why I was looking forward to Alice on ION, and now that that will be gone in April, I'll be watching Drew Carey for sure (WHY are they starting over 2/3 into the series?!?), and checking out Quantum Leap for the first time to see if I like it. That's pretty much it.

You know people like you Solomon, did record his final show for trading, others recorded it for prosperity, so for those who want the final week for prosperity and didn't or don't record shows, can now have it on a DVD.

No argument there. They could have and should have had some episodes from the 80's, like I initially said. The final week being included is a nice thing to have, I don't think it should be a bonus, it is not like it is some rare occasion, simply the final week of the man's hosting duties. Rare footage and such is bonus material to me.

I don't mind the final week . . . what I mind the most is that they left out nearly 30 years worth of great episodes. The Cullen episodes are great to have, and the early Price episodes with Bob Barker are great, too. But they have nearly 10 episodes from his first year, and 6 or 7 episodes from his next 3 years. After that, nothing.

ION was always a great network because it aired shows that were never huge hits in syndication, rarely seen in syndication, or not on DVD. Alice, Amen, Growing Pains, The Wonder Years were all great examples. But now they seem to air things that bring in ratings, just like every other network out here today.

Well the for the lack of for most of the 70's and 80's is because it had fur coats as a prize,(Wikipedia article,so take it as a grain of salt).


During the first ten years of The Price Is Right, fur coats were often featured as prizes. After Barker became involved in animal rights, he insisted that the show not offer prizes that harmed animals, a demand to which CBS agreed; animals and fur coats have not since been offered on the program. Barker also forbids the re-airing of older episodes in which fur coats and live animals are offered.

as for ION i agree w/ the majority as well, that's the thing that irritates me about cable in the last 5 or 6 year and that's airring shows that is already being show on either syndication,OTA TV,ans other cable network.

as for breaking news,unless it a matter of life and death,or national security,it really unnecessary imo.
